Today when you posted one of your knives on your 'favorite knife' threads, I saw a knife you've posted before, and one I wanted to comment on.
I too bought the Wilderness Explorer...and it must have been back in about '82-83 just like you. For eons I thought this knife to be total crap, until one day I spent some time with it and actually re-shaped the edge. It's Japanese steel (which in the day was thought to be crap, but now is pretty decent steel).
Thinking you might think I'm fibbing (after I found it), I took a picture of it with the Bidor parang knife I just received from Malaysia today...
