The crooked governor and the death penalty
Governor Ryan of Illinois, who was sent to federal prison this week for 6 1/2 years, was made a hero by the liberals in 2000 when he announced a moratorium on the death penalty. He was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
At the time that Ryan announced the death penalty moratorium, he had long since committed the numerous felonies which were to send him to prison.
I heard a report on the radio today that Ryan's defense was FREE, provided by a liberal law firm that loved Ryan for his cessation of the death penalty.
"The cost of devoting Dan Webb, the firm's top litigator, and a small army of other lawyers to Ryan's criminal defense reportedly has cost the law firm Winston & Strawn almost $20 million."
I wonder, when Ryan instituted the moratorium seven years ago, did he have a good idea that he might need some free legal help in the future?

Not sure about the liberal law firm part. One of the partners is Big Jim Thompson, He was the Gov. before Ryan...Thompson was also on the 911 Commission. 0
