The whole FOID thing makes very little sence. I have to show mine before I can buy ammo. I have to show mine when I want to look at a firearm at any retail outlet. I have to exchange information and take a copy of a FOID when I sell a firearm to someone else or give a copy of mine when I buy from a non FFL.

When I purchase a new firearm, I still have to go though an instant check.

The only good thing I know of is that mental health records are checked before they issue the FOID although I am not sure how they do it.
