I'm only 12 miles from there. I know many people in the area, and maybe even a bank teller there.

I hope everything turns out okay.

"At this time I'm unsure of what he wants"

I imagine he wants to get out of there without getting mowed down...

    and hopefully with the cash.[;)]

when asked by a reporter, "why do you rob banks?" Bank Robber responded, "because thats where the money is."

any one know who said this?

About 20 miles from there. They got him out of the bank and the last hostage unhurt. Last I heard the cop that got shot was hit twice. In the head and the chest. Was in stable condition.

I was traveling today and was in the area when this all occured. My family was in the car with me. We were moving right along when I saw several squad cars coming up fast behind me. I pulled over
and a grey van flew by just missing a Ford Escape in the fast lane.

The Van actually passed the Escape on the far shoulder...we noticed the back window was missing in the van as it went by. As we passed the Arcola exit, we could see a State trooper pulling a shotgun out of his trunk.

Several squad cars passed us coming from the other direction. We stopped off for gas an hour or so later and there was a ISP Trooper
getting gas. I asked him what was going on and at the time he said
a guy had shot a Deputy Sheriff. He said there was a stand off at a bank in Arcola.

We traveled the rest of the day and were amazed to see the story on
the net.....Glad he was not shooting as he went by us as indicated
    in the news story.
