Destruction of the middle class
Read the post about the destruction of the middle class and decided to do something. I wrote a letter to each senator and our congressman. I outlined the basic article and added my two cents. I have five children (one is now voting age) and I asked each one to sign the letter. We will mail this to these folks and hope it means something. Call me naive but it's better than complaining and doing nothing. The text is as follows:
12 November 2007
Dear Senator Brown,
America?_Ts middle class is being dismantled by jobs exported to cheap-labor Third World countries. CEOs and corporations that enjoy the luxuries of America?_Ts hard won freedom care not a tinker?_Ts dam whether you have a job or not?_"or a living wage. But the American man and woman on the street--the ones with two kids, a mortgage and bills coming out of our ears--stand powerless as our jobs vanish. We need your help now to stand against the continued issuing of visas to foreign workers while WE stand in unemployment lines and then lose our homes.
The Democrats continue to play the same old ?_osong?__ of more tax payer funded social programs while the Republicans throw away our future to greed and corporate interests. These ?_oplaybooks?__ are worn out. Please stand against the open door of H-1B visas. This quota spits in the eyes of the American citizens. We don?_Tt need more of the same. Please support the state governors (like Tom Tancredo) in seriously reforming immigration. We do not need more of the same; same talk, same inaction and same results.
Stand up for US the American citizens BEFORE it is too late.
If enough folks sent this kind of letter it may help. Beats moaning and doing nothing.

Thanks man. Glad I am not alone on this. Better to try and fail then never to try. Real Americans will not sit by while events overtake them.

My representatives are probably sick of hearing from me. "Most" of the time, they do not even reply. When they do, it is usually with a "canned" response that often has NOTHING to do with the original subject.
Even so, I will continue to contact them, and voice my opinion. Until it is illegal to do so.0 -
I am stunned.
Obviously, you are not listening to Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity. geo.bush, and the couple of rich guys here on the forum.
You need to get another job, while getting some more higher education.
This is the land of opportunity..and those getting left behind are lazy, drug addicts,or left-wing liberals..or they are on the public dole, sucking money out of the rich guys. After all...rich guys pay most of the taxes in this country...so stop your whinning.0 -
America is getting worse everyday. Won't get better anytime in the near future. Just wait until Hillary becomes President.[V] 0 -
Years from now we will look back and call this "the good old days" 0 -
I have been seeing this for years/ Only it seems in "high gear" mode right now/ Quicker than I expected, the thing is, many Americans don't have a clue[V] as to what is going on around them except who they are talking to on there cell phone in the sweets isle iin Wal Mart///imo..nambu 0 -
A protectionist economy is merely going to hurt us more in the long run. 0 -
Others say wait until the next president, they better look at the current president and his administration. 1 in 4 americans already say they are the worst in US history and I wonder what the other 3 are thinking or must be blind. Some estimates have the war at costing each american family $20000 already and how are we getting out of this mess with things as well as they were before they started.(we did get back at threating daddy though) Also most of the housing mess is on this administration as they and their old buddy Greenspan put the interest rate at rock bottom and created an artifical enviroment were real estate prices went through the roof because people though they could afford the payment. I'll stop there as the current administration always gets their way no matter what. This is how you become a president and get to keep it, is to make as big of a mess as possible and people think you are the one that made the mess and you are the only one that can get us out. I have worked places like this before. 0 -
Corporate America has a bigger voice than stupid Americans.
You fools still think you elect Presidents for Gods sake.0 -

Corporate America is the reason why "stupid Americans" have IRAs and 401(k)'s. If every company comprising the S&P 500 (500 largest capitlization companies) went bankrupt today and made all the whiners who spout cliches of "Big Business" and all that crap then your dollar wouldn't be worth the paper it was made of. Needless to say, the mutual funds in which your 401(k) or IRA is invested in wouldt be spit either. 0
