Lobsterfishing sound easy but can be more complicated than explained.

We use galvanized wire covered in plastic traps. These can be any size but usually 36, 45, or 54 inch long bu about 20-30 inch wide. They have an opening (head) on either side of the head (kitchen) of the trap. Then another head inside the trap to the rear (bedroom) of the trap. Some traps have two heads inside the trap. (double-bedroom).

One baits a mesh bag with bait, usually herring, and hangs it in the head or kitchen of the trap and sets it where they expect a lobster to be. It can be set for any amount of time, but usaully 3 nights to 7 nights set.

Then rehual for the legal lobsters and release the illegal and rebait and keep doing it over an over.

I volunteer to be your Quality Assurance Inspector, at absolutely no charge to you.

If you send me 4 lobsters per week, I will certify their quality to your customers, thus allowing you to command the most lucrative prices.

Please send them at once, so that you may immediately start bringing home that substantially greater income.

I hope it keeps up. This is the best fishing I have seen so far. I hope we get a second school. I have been getting some short hard white ones even with the shedders.

I fish the outboard alone, but go with my father as sternman until her retires, the I take over the Bruno.

Legal size in Maine is 3-1/4 in to 5 in of the carapace. Also the female must not be berried (spawn) or notched (second fin in from right with cut). Lots of rules.!
