Auction side question. Concerning Reserve.

Can a seller start an auction with..
Started at $0.01
with
No Reserve

Then when they see that they are about to lose a good rifle in the last few hours for next to nothing, set a reserve price on the item?

I just had that happen on a Remington 552 Speedmaster Auto .22.
When I bid last night the "time left" was at 1 day and a few hours. Looked at it today and the seller has went back and set a reserve on it.

I thought that once a bid was made the "rules" were set for that item.

    As long as there are o bids you can change it. Must not have had any bids on it.

    This will be poofed, but once a bid is made nothing can be changed on the sell side, other than to add to the description.
    Maybe you crossed at the same time[?]

    I was the first and only one that has bid on the rifle.
    I use to have an old 552. They are the jamming'est .22 autos that I have ever shot..lol
    I just wanted one for old times sake and to remember just how bad they were.

    I can't make any changes to my auctions after the first bid is placed, and I presume this seller can't either. Are you SURE it started as a "no reserve" auction, or could you have overlooked the reserve?

    If he did change the reserve status, it must have happened just before you placed your bid...You cannot change the auction after a bid is placed.

    Les,,, did you ever "try" to fix that JAMMIN prob. in your old 552?

    No I did not. But wish I had.
    When using Long Rifle ammo it would bend the lead next to the tip and not feed.
    It did not do it all of the time. But enough to make me get rid of it after owning it for two years. Heck I bought it new around 1974 or 75.
