Remember that pretty gal next to the buck mount?
Over the years I've seen her picture posted a few times. She's a pretty blonde with a GREAT smile and she's standing next to a monster buck mount. It looks to be at some whitetail sportsman's expo outdoors or something like that. Well, I've been watching the Outdoor Channel and I figured out who she is. She's Tiffany Lakosky from "Gettin' Close with Lee and Tiffany" on the Outdoor Channel! Even better--she's a fellow Iowan! Woo Hoo! She's even prettier and a bit more down-to-earth than that schizophrenic blonde on ESPN2.
I can't find that picture of her that I've seen on Gunbroker over the years but I'd encourage you all to catch the show on the Outdoor Channel if you ever get a chance!.

I just started watching this show a few months back and she is hot. In one episode they were bowfishing for bighead carp on the Illinois River. She looked good shooting a bow. 0 -

Isn't she that young lady from around Eddyville, IA?
By the way fellas take a good look, cause that's the way all our women look in Iowa. It's in the corn fed beef.[;)]0 -
There are so many beauties in Iowa. I was born in Sioux County. Where are you from sarge_3ad?
That's the one I was talking about! Is that her?0 -
I work with an Iowa cutie. She said it is so boring in Iowa that she got pregnant at 16.( True ) 0 -
She's probably part of the "Entertain Me" generation that had no imagination. A lot of folks say there's nothing better to do than drink and have sex. Most of those folks have no love for the outdoors and couldn't find something creative to do if it hit them in the head. I'd give my left leg to live out in Iowa farm country when I retire. I know lots of youngsters that grew up in Iowa that kept pretty darn busy! 0 -

Well I hate to knock anybody's home, but I will point out that Iowa is the only state west of the Mississippi that has NO wilderness. Fertile soil (which makes good crops and therefore good deer), but give me an infertile wilderness, any day.0 -
What do you mean we don't have wilderness. Iowa has many acres of natural praries that have never seen a plow.[:)] Plus, we have a huge State Forest just a few miles from where I live. 0 -

You DO have some of the best prairie remnants on the continent, but that's only because you had some of the best prairie to begin with. Sadly most of what you have left are 'postage stamp prairies,' most of which do not cover a full section. There are some organizations that are working hard to restore the tallgrass prairie in Iowa (and the tallgrass prairie is easier to restore than many other landscapes so there is hope).
But you do NOT have any wilderness. There are no sizable land parcels in IA within which humans are legally acknowledged as transient visitors....and that is the definition of wilderness.
I guess none of that means that you don't have the opportunity to enjoy the out-of-doors in nature. I'll grant that I've not spent any time exploring your nature opportunities so my assessment might not do IA justice. I've only looked at the maps and seen how small your natural areas are, relative to some other places on the continent, and specifically in the western US.0 -

Ok. They don't have wilderness. I've hunted plenty of timber in Iowa. Your point? There's plenty of outdoor activities in Iowa. Hunting, fishing, hiking. I can take you places in Iowa that will make you doubt your sources.0 -

Fair enough. Probably you could show me some really cool places in IA (I've yet to find a state without at least a few.) Maybe I just need to accept that my idea of a good place is not the same as everybody else's idea of a good place. That said, I strongly value large tracts of land within which the impact of humans is minimized. I like to have the option to go somewhere where I will see nobody, and see no evidence of anybody for at least a number of days.0 -
