Summer school! friggin dad burn inconvenient mess
I just got a note.....we have to send the 15 year old to summer school!!!! She has to take a full year of ALGEBRA!!! What I think is hillarious is what all SHE has to say about it.
"I don't HAVE to go...I can make it up next year, but I will have to drop down to a standard diploma."
"We can take care of the kids BEFORE and AFTER summer school." (since it was summer I was planning on saving a little money by NOT paying a sitter to watch my younger two...guess I was wrong.)
"I could have failed three more classes but daddy said if I tried harder and did better you guys would let me see that boy you guys hate." (my favorite so far)
I stopped her after that....I just don't know what we are going to do with this one![:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

Why not get her a tutor for algebra? Just 1 hour a week. For someone that struggles with math, you need to do lots of repetition and I mean lots. Buy two or three math books off of half.com, get an answers book with them, make her do the same assignments from those books as she is doing in class. Grade them for her, keep track, set goals for improvement and give rewards for those goals that are met.
With any math, if you sit in class, then go home, don't do it for a couple of days, copy the assignment before class, and not study for test, you will fail. The only way anyone, even the smartest person, can succeed with a math course is to go to class, take notes, do the homework, and then do more then the homework, then study for test by doing more homework. Even if its just 10 problems a day, it will help. REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION, oh and did I say REPETITION?
Also, don't take the BS that she will say she isn't going to ever use math in the real world. I said that, I now use algebra and trig on an almost daily basis.

She was in deep mess toward the end of the year in MOST of her subjects. We have gone UP and down all year long with all of the classes. This is her first year to notice BOYS!!! Ever since I have heard "how cute" this or that guy is....it has been hard. She has gone as far as to TRY and make me actually SMELL hoodies she has swiped from boys at school.
I am going NUTS!
She has made a new best friend also...these two girls could have anything and everything they want...I swear the moon would be in their pocket right now if they tried hard enough. Too bad all they want to do is swipe smelly sweatshirts from boys and run my phone bill up!!!0 -

The main reason I never failed or even came close to failing a class in high school was the wrath of my mother. I would have not liked getting an F or a D less then what I didn't like in school. 0 -
I'm not one of those buddy-buddy mothers...not that I think it is BAD to be "best friends" because I obviously don't know half of what I am trying to get through most of the time. I try to keep up with WHO she is in contact with and keep the slime away from her. Make her do what I can....and keep her from doing what I can. She is a very good girl....no stealing, drinking, no foul mouth talking, very respectful, no sneaking out or lies to get what she wants.....and NOT PREGNANT (like some in her school.)
She is hard headed, lazy, nutty, and looks like a 25 year old so people treat her older than she is....so she THINKS she is able to decide things for herself every once in a while.....UNTIL I fix that!0 -

Oh Jacob....I can't imagine your family is put through the mess these gals are putting me through. Just for fun you should borrow a girl's jacket and bring it home....stand in the kitchen and smell it....then look at your dad with a zoned out look on your face and say to him "smell it"....you will get the look that I give to her on a regular basis. I usually follow this look with "GO AWAY." So don't be suprised if he yells at you and speaks to himself for the next half hour....because that is normal. 0 -

Looks like you have your hands full. We too are dealing with a teenager. He is 14, soon to be 15. Thinks he knows everything. If he rolls his eyes while I'm talking to him one more time....

The friends are the key....good buddies...no trouble....bad buddies...big trouble. I have been lucky. She is a bit of a loner. Not a lot has come along to deal with and the little bit I have has been normal levels of insanity. I'm just glad she seems happy....while at the same time I want to make her miserable!!!!! 0 -
