I could've volunteered for TCN escort duty this winter, but I was told I was already selected to deploy to a tropical island instead. I'll get it the next time around.

You know what TCN duty is right?
Don't you find it funny they made you undergo "Trafficing in People" training yet US military members have to supervise foreign country slaves to do work for us?
I find it funny.
They offer high paying jobs to Phillipinos, Vietnamese, and other people then when they get in country....kazaaaam...they yank their passports.

I advice you not to volunteer on any deployment other than the AEF bucket you are assigned. Every USAF member are assigned an AEF deployment cycle, for instance, you are currently tasked under your AFSC either individual, part of an aviation package, or as a fragmented unit task code (UTC). Having said that, if you volunteer for a TCN (9U100 UTC) escort duty and get picked, someone else gets screwed because someone else must now fill your original AEF tasking.
Lots of USAF members, esp. "Os" volunteer for out-of-cycle AEF deployments. Unit deployment managers (UDMs) and functional account managers (FAMs) - at base level and sometimes MAJCOM level - overlook this and messes up the overall AEF cycle programming.
In all my deployments, the 9U100s are very unhappy, and ObiWan is right about the slave (or slave driver) duty. [:p]0 -
No way am I missing this sunny tropical island deployment. It's looking like it'll be a good time, we're suppose to be bringing our good shift expediters and flight chiefs. I also will have my 5 level by then, and if I get selected for BTZ, I'll have SRA (Senior Airman or E-4) by then. I'm looking forward to it. 0 -
I know it's not an island but I'd give anything to go back to Honduras for another 6 months. 0
