Hey I'm from CT and you are absolutly right. Dodd you should keep his nose out of everything. He has been running on his fathers name for years, and the libs of CT keep electing him.I hope when he starts his presidential run he retires from the senate like so many people here have called for,but I don't think that will happen. 0 -
Hey, no complaining. After all, we just sent an invasion force into another country because we didn't like their President. [;)][;)] 0 -
Jeez, Select, that's never happened before. Hope it doesn't cause as much trouble as last time.[:D] 0 -
Nothing to do with north or south really... It's all about politics and royalty. We peons need to be educated and led. Who better than our pompous elected officials? 0 -
Nothin' demonstrates an ability to cater to a certain minority group better than posturing on Martin Luther King Day... 0 -
I may be wrong here but, have people not been trying to get that flag down here in SC for a long time without any luck.
I don't believe they will be successfull this time either.
I am not originally from SC but I have been here for 2 years now and I can definatly see where there are strong feelings for the confederacy and these people don't want to forget about their family members lost in that war.
I believe that flag will stay in its rightfull place flying high!0 -
I personally don't see a problem with the flag. I view it somewhat like the POW flags many fly. A reminder of the suffering some have endured. 0 -

I'll bite. The Yankee led federal govt. does have a history of invading sovereign nations. Just like the war of northern aggression in the 1860's. However, we disliked more than Iraqs President.0 -

Great post, thanks

You Ain't Just Whistlin' Dixie
Pine trees grow so tall in the bright sunshine
A young boy steals his daddy's fishin' line
An alligator lays on the banks of a riverbed
And if you didn't know any better you'd swear he's dead.
Chorus:
Now these are a few things I'm in love with
A small part of the reason I go back
To Carolina, Mississsippi, Florida, gorgeous Georgia
Now if you think I'm happy down there you're on the right track.
And you ain't just whistlin' Dixie
You ain't just slappin' your knee
I'm a grandson of the Southland
An heir to the Confederacy.
You ain't just whistlin' Dixie
'Cause the cattle call's callin' me home
So put me down there where I wanna be
Plant my feet with Robert E. Lee.
Bury my bones under a cypress tree
And never let me roam.
And you ain't just whistlin' Dixie
You ain't just slappin' your knee
I'm a grandson of the Southland
An heir to the Confederacy.
Cotton balls gleam and the cow gives cream
For the baby's sake
Pa comes in full of gin
And he's mean as a rattlesnake.
And if the well runs dry
and we cry and cuss the garden hose
Mama draws a bucket full of creek water
Just to wash our clothes.
Chorus:
Now these are a few things I'm in love with
A small part of the reason I go back
To Carolina, Mississsippi, Florida, gorgeous Georgia
Now if you think I'm happy down there you're on the right track...0 -
If they want it down that bad , let em' try climbing up there and get it. I find it funny that alot of the black people that live in South Carolina have no problem with it. We worked over there during 93-94, saw the rebel flag flying everywhere and noone was biatching about it then. 0 -

Your right! I see it flying high all around my nieghborhood.
I have seen not one person complain about it. It is part of the southern heritage.0 -
....ONLY THE PC AND THE IGNORANT (WELL, ONE AND THE SAME ACTUALLY)...have a problem with the flag...[^]

My wife is from Kentucky and she has a confederate flag flying on our wall. I'm in Wisconsin. I have no problem with the flag. It was long before my time and is part of history. Its time for the liberals to suit up and swim the ocean. [;)] 0 -

The war of Northern Aggression that the South started by firing the first shots at Fort Sumter? Nice revisionist history you got there.0 -

No, these __________ MF's got the one that flew on the statehouse years ago. These lowlife scum are after anything and everything AMERICAN, not just the Southern Flag. The flag they are after now is the one that flies with the Confederate monument on the statehouse grounds. We have hundreds, if not thousands of smaller monuments and flags on courthouse grounds throughout the south to honor our dead. Lots of sorry BASTA*DS want to prevent us from memoralizing them. They are the Hitler like Sons of gripe*s that talk and act like this cowardly MF is doing.0 -

Wow! You must not have been watching the news when the planes went into the twin towers. Of course Saddam had nothing to do with training that fun group of folks in his terriost plane training camps. Put your head back into the sand and go to sleep.[;)][:D]

As bad as Christopher J. Dodd is, he still hasn't reached the level of Thomas Joseph Dodd, but he's working on it. Now that I know he doesn't like the Confederate flag, I'll have to get one.0 -

Nothing says AMERICA like the Naval Flag of the biggest group of traitors in this countries history.0 -
i am a yank by birth, however i to have a confederate BATTLE FLAG hanging on my wall. i hang it because i am an individual and i am a history nut, particularly civil war, i am not a racist as i have been accused of by less informed individuals
by the way, notice i said battle flag not confederate flag. there is a difference between the confederate flag and the battle flag that everyone knows
to start off with. the stars and bars as they are also known. is favored by many for it's rebel attitude, of non conformaty and of individuality.
second we are nation of rebels. don't forgetthat in 1776 we were considered "rebels" or traitors by england. it is, as was said before, also a simble of the struggle that we endured to solidify ouself as one nation under God( wait, can i still say that?)
it has been corrupted by a few(insert explitive of your choice) individuals who use it as a simbol of hate, and this is why "get my name in the papers" politicians pick up on it0 -
The flag is not the problem and does not belong in a museum, unless perhaps it's an original and has significant historical value for that time.
Self-serving, opportunistic politicians remain a blight. What better day to make this absurd allegation than on MLK Day when they have "a captive audience" all across America?
Shame on Dodd and Biden.0 -

First Flag of Confederate States of America also know as the Stars and Bars
Second Flag of Confederate States of America
Third Flag of Confederate States of America
Confederate Battle Flag0
