APO shipping question
How can I ship a barrel to an AE APO. Post Office says that is not allowed?

Site says no fire arms permitted. Trying to split hairs here.......would only a barrel be classified as a firearm?
Site also refers to DMM C024.1.1C which I can find no info anywhere.0 -

The barrel is not a firearm. Only the receiver is considered a firearm.

...if it's just a barrel, and going out of the country...you have the custom form to fill out...but you DONT have to list every single item. Since the barrel is legal, just dont list that on the customs form, no big deal.
...I never list everything on the customs form, there is not room...I just list the important things,...jerky, hard candy, baby wipes...[:D]

When shipping packages to most APO addresses, you must fill out a customs declaration listing the contents. Lying on the declaration gets both the shipper and recipient in trouble, if caught.0 -
EOD it is not a matter of "lieing"...more a matter of "accepted" omission.
...If the goody box has a ton of things in it, there is no where close to enough room on the customs form to list everything...and the post office people will tell you, you dont have to list every single item...Ive sent close to 20 goody boxs in the last year and a half to Afghanistan and Iraq, and have never listed "every item" on any of the custom forms, there is simply not enough room on the form.
...If the barrel is legal, and is thrown in with a bunch of other legal items....there wont be room to list everthing...just make the barrel one of the "unlisted" items, again, no big deal...[;)]0 -
The real issue: does a single unattached barell fit the definition of "firearm".
HandgunHTR52 says only the receiver is classified as a firearm.
Reponses from HandgunHTR52 and COLT seem sensible, especlly when dealing with the postal bureuacracy.
I can find no postal definition distinguishing gun parts from a functional firearm. Frustrating.0 -

Unless times have changed the postal regs for mail destined to military personnel for delivery through a military post office are one and the same as those for the USPS. However, a phone call to any APO office should clarify whatever question you have.0
