...There's one that advertises in Shotgun News. I haven't checked them out yet, but the rates sound better than anything I can get locally.

    What about the NRA insurance?

On the down side, this policy will not cover Full Size Cannons. [:)] [:D] [8D]

...My State Farm agent won't sell me a rider, though I can buy a separate "personal property" policy. My safe doesn't matter either. The cost is right in line with NRA. I looked at the rates at www.collectinsure.com and they beat NRA hands down. Plus, they do give a discount for a safe or alarm. Right now, I'm way under-insured and have to do something.

I have talked with the Collector Insurance people (see link in earlier post) a couple of times at the Tulsa show, and they seem legitimate, with good annual rates for quite a lot of coverage. They said I should provide a list of my guns and a few other details (where stored, e.g.), but I wouldn't have to provide receipts or pictures to prove what I have. Now, how well they would pay a claim is something to which I can't vouch. I'm still debating with myself whether I should go with Collector. I, too, lack adequate coverage under my homeowner's policy.[:(]

With the cost and proof of value that was required by most Insurance providers it made more sense for me to purchase the best theft/fire resistant safe I could buy instead of paying a recurring fee for special firearms insurance. Obviously my firearms are not 100% protected, but with a safe that has high theft and fire resistant features and a monitored home alarm system the safe pays for itself in about 3 years. Plus, we still have the pittance that would be paid by our Homeowner's Insurance and the NRA in the event of a loss.

Hey there GRD. Try Collectibles Insurance Agency. There wesite is www.collectinsure.com. They have really good rates, all the way from theft, fire, flood, and on down the line. I have a policy from them. On there form, 10,000 shows to cost around $50. Hope this helps.

Forget insurance. Get a gunsafe and put bars on the doors and windows.

bamafan: Isn't the $50.00 figure closer to what it would be for $100,000.00 coverage?

Thanks I will look into it.

I also found out that State farm will give me $5000 for exactly what I am paying now. So at least that is a little better, but still not enuff.

You are right bamafan. I did not know that you were referring to the annual premium.
