Looking back over the past few year it looks like a person could have made alot more money buying ammo over guns. 500 dollars in the right ammo 2 years ago would be worth over 800.00 today. 500.00 in most guns would be worth 500.00 dollars today. Should a person start buying alot of ammo seems to me to better than the stock market.

A few years ago gold was under $300 an ounce. It's hovering around $700./oz now. Sterling is around $9./oz. Much better investment.

Your paying to much or buying the wrong guns. [;)] If you would have bought Winchester 9417's (or 9410's or 9422 case hardend or ...) for $350 2 years ago you would have trippled your money. What fun is an ammo collection.[:o)][:D]

I do have 9422s and a 9410 but how long is this winchester thing going to hold out it is already on the slide. but for the avarge gun they have not increase as much in percentages as has ammo

Yes, but your question was from an investment standpoint. So if you are buying average guns you are not investing good. Case hardened Winny's that were a limited run are a great investment and will continue to be, as well as vintage win's (and other classic american guns) in top condition. Also keep in mind the shipping cost on a $1000 gun vs. $1000 worth of lead.

Why buy the ammo?? Buy lead ,copper and other components. You can do that on the open market and no need to pay shipping. Etc. Vanguard metals up over 30% this year.

There are three purchases in life that you are garnteed to make money on:
Buy beach front property in southern california
Buy a major leage baseball team
    Buy class 3 weapons

I'd appreciate it if someone would "slide" me a $50,000.00 case colored 1886 which was selling for $10,000.00 not many years back.
