It is a cow moose. It looks like the new road section between Cooper Landing and Soldotna AK. Lots of moose there. I had 100's of narrow misses along that odd section of highway. It is set up for 4 lanes and only has two lanes paved. The sad thing is a few folks get killed every year hitting moose. They are big and the lankey legs place the body above a cars hood. When hit they can and do come right throught the windshield. 1,000 pounds hitting you in the face at 60 MPH will kill you pretty fast. 0 -
I hit a small doe once on the highway traveling in excess of 100mph. I got lucky and just clipped the rear end sending it streaking down the side of the car rather than into the windshield. The poor thing literally blew up it looked like someone threw a bucket of blood on my hood and an elephant wiped it's butt down the side of the car. Did nearly $5k in damage.
It took a few minutes to pull the seat upholstery out of my rear when I puckered up. on impact.0 -
That is absolutely incredible to me... of course I live in Kansas, so I've never seen a live moose.
Or one on top of a camper pulled by a chevy, in person, either!0 -

[:D] Hells bells; its all wilderness around Soldotna [:D] 138 miles to Anchorage and 85 from Homer. Little to do in between either except keep an eye open for moose in the woods that have a tendancy of darting into the road.0 -
