That does make my putter flutter. At one time I had a 45-110 Ballard, probably the straightest shooting open sight rifle I've ever owned. W.D. 0 -

Until I looked at the box of ammo marked as such, I never realized the big boy .50/110 ever had anything besides black powder in them??
Bert, if your still watching this.
What year did they start loading with smokeless for this round?0 -

Did shoot a lot with a Browning made "Winchester" in .50-110WinEx
It was a fun gun and shot great.
It was with ammo very similar to that shown, colour of the label was slightly different.
There were mainly original cartridges in 20 count boxes, some with blue label and some with a reddish/orange label.
And a few reloads with smokeless.
All in all, I think it was 1200 original cartridges and 100-150 reloads that came with the rifle.
It's now used for musk-ox and general purpose hunting up north of here.0 -

Circa 1900 I believe. It was even loaded (for a few years) in the W.H.V. (Winchester High Velocity) line of cartridges (2200 fps versus the standard 1600 fps).0 -
