One of these days . . . (? for "old" guys)
I seem to use that phrase a lot. I'm almost 50 years old, FIFTY years old, and I keep looking forward to "one of these days" for a lot of things.
How did I get over the hill without making it to the top?
It's easy to look back on my life and say If this or that had been different....but it doesn't change the now.
What things have you procrastinated about that you really wish you had not?

I've been meaning to think about that.

To reply to this thread would imply that I AM an "old guy"
So I won't reply.

know the feeling henry, nearing the 50 pretty quick myself...
mainly the "if i had known back then..." syndrome, missed a LOT of chances that at the time just didnt seem worth it and turned out big
and wish i had met my current smithing guru a whole lot sooner before his health was on the decline. he and i both worry he will go with most of his knowledge locked in his head before i am quick enough to learn it0 -
Building and testing a progressive twist EDM rifling system. Had it in my mind for years, never have done it. 0 -

How was the Big Bend, He Dog? I've often thought about visiting there.0 -
"Over the Hill" is a state of mind, which I don't let myself delve into.
I kind of wish I had left CA earlier, but I wouldn't have been set up for early retirement, so I guess I'm happy with the way things turned out. Still plenty of time to catch up on all of the hunting and fishing I missed out on.0 -
One of these days, I'm going to get my crap together and grow up......
But not today.....[:D]0 -

Kimi the Bend is the best place in all of Texas, provided you like desert. Huge park with a lot of vegetation found only there in the US just creaping in from Mexico. Some great vistas from the Chisos Mountains and basin. Interesting reptiles, nice facilities, little Sierra del Carmen white tails. You can fill several compact flash cards with your camera. Find interesting food and faces in Study (pronounced Stoody) Butte, Terlingua, and Lajitas, a changable feast that varies from year to year, but is slowly trending toward greater developement.
I have been collecting snakes and visiting in the region since the early 70's and it is still a great place.0 -

You've sold me on the many good reasons to visit a place that I have a thought a lot about, but have never seen. It sounds like a wonderful place for an extended visit, maybe in the Spring (?). I just mentioned it to the wife, so I imagine we might gravitate in that direction. I believe I will google up RVing and Big Bend and see what I can come up with. I would really like to see those places and see those vistas, and just enjoy the local people too. Thanks. 0
