someties old age is a blessing
Yea, I am in my eighties. Saw the depression and fought in WW 2. That was the easy part from what it is now. Now it is paper work on everything from Medicare to tax reduction and the likes. Also "child proof" caps on medicines, low salt, low fat, and low everything excepting to keep us healthy(?). I and many others made it through without the help of the Govt. requiremants. Just what have we bred, a bunch of wimps that need Govt. controled environed foods and cant think for themselves? Damn it give us a break . Just to many laws anymore from "lawn Darts" to guns to have big daddy protect us from ourselves. The main things like Illegal Immigration are shoved under the table, along with accepting so called "Immigrants" from countries and religions not in our best well beings. Yes, my taxes have gone well up to support this "Immigration without any stop" and will continue to do so. I also realize we have cars that will last over 4 times longer, Air conditioning in most houses, fast food places to feed the lazy, porn on the internet for kids to watch, a new infection called AIDS which is prevelant (in the last 45 years). Sometimes I wonder if all these new things are really worht it. It sure dont seem to be doing this country any good lately. Luckily I have had the best
from this country, even in bad times, and dont envy you for what is happening now and soon.

i'm 41 i wonder what things i will be saying if i hit your age
we used to not have cameras in our living rooms, we used to have rights given to us by a thing called the constitution, we had a language called english, guns where not just in a museum0 -
Joe, I see your point. I'm 53 and have had a good, easy life compared to what your generation went through. But it is not looking good for the grandchildren. Somehow, I believe they will adapt. 0 -
Heck, my kids wonder how we ever lived without remote controls for the tv.
You need to have coffee with my dad, joe. Lots to talk about...0 -

I'm "just" 64 coming up on 65. I wonder the same things you do. I grew up on a farm in the forties, still no money from going thru the depression. My daddy taught me to honor, obey and respect- and gave me a whooping if I needed one. My sons, in their late thirties were raised the same way. Today if you tried that the goberment would send out a social worker and haul you into court for child abuse.
Looks like we're going to hell ina handbasket. When I was young we "watched" the radio on Saturday night, there were real comedians who could make you laugh without profane speach, you prayed in school and everybody got a yes mam or yes sir. Sad those times are gone. Like Red Skelton said; "Goodnight and may God bless"0 -
...."for kids to watch?"
based on your track record here promoting it, i'll bet a dollar to donuts its for you 80 year olds too, pops![:I][:o)][:0][:X][:D]0 -

Easy there Bobski, you are way out of your league.
If you are into the porn thing, that is your business.
But it's not for kids.
Didn't your momma tell you to watch you manners?0 -

You're a little more mature than I am, but I can see the same things.
I'm glad I'm not going to be around for the big collapse, but I'm sorry for the youngsters.

I'm 62---as a kid, grew up in small towns (Mayberry style). Moved closer to a big city, like many did, for more job opportunities. Now, I'm retired----I want to move back to Mayberry. Wife, still working, and I have talked about it many times. If she could find a good job in a small town (difficult to do), we'd sell this house tomorrow and go.
Have our sights on northeast Texas----but, just not many opportunities (job) for her; but, we'll keep looking and hoping.0 -

The new is always hard for the older folks to adapt to. The young ones have much less or no trouble adapting, and never having seen what you and I have seen (I was born in the new-fangled 40's) they don't miss what we lament. And so it goes since the beginning of mankind. You try your best not to be a luddite, and hope you don't end up one of those 35 year old dads in the oversize shorts and tanktop trying to look 14.0 -
every thing changes ! but not always for the best!! 0 -
Change is inevitable (except from a vending machine)
There's a famous quote by Aristotle (or someone of his era) lamenting the sorry excuse for music the younger generation listens to, . . . to Hades in a handbasket and so forth.
I spent a lot of my late youth preparing for Armageddon/civil war and planning to arm and provide gear for my extended family. Nowadays I think maybe it will be after my time so there's no point in hanging on to all this stuff.
It would be really cool if GunBroker could get 25% of the traffic that fleabay does and I could unload a lot of deuce gear (for you civilians that's camping stuff)0 -
I liked the old days too, joe, when we didn't have the internet and guys like bobski would have to say that to your face.[:D]
