Houston Police Department HOUSTON -- A visitor to the High Caliber Gun and Knife Show and TRISTAR Collectors Show held at the George R. Brown Convention Center makes the mistake of not securing his weapon and pays the price.
Police say the man took a loaded gun to the show to buy a recoil spring for it.
According to investigators, the visitor tried to repair the replacement part on site. A vendor noticed that the gun was not properly secured but the gun discharged before the visitor could be warned.
The visitor shot his hand in the process and was taken to Christus St. Joseph hospital.
Police are still investigating the incident.

Um... don't the LEOs hang out at the front door and make sure that there are no loaded guns and that the actions are locked open with zip ties like they do in Colorado at gun shows? 0 -
they do but this guy just walked right past them and didn't check his gun in at all. 0 -
Some people should not be allowed to breed. This is a fine example of one of them. 0 -
Stupid people should be illegal. Oh, wait. G. Dubbia would give them all amnesty. 0 -

...Twit. The people at the front door were lax in their job of tieing the guns, or in this case letting the idiot just walk by an-checked...[xx(]
...What-cha want to bet the idiot that shot himself will sue the gun show promoters, the guys at the front door??? I bet he's already been contacted by at least a dozen leech lawyers...not good attorneys, but the ambulance chasers...[^]
...here's a pic of the victim's father holding a pic of his son when he was just a mere young, twit...

How much you want to bet they didn't see it because he had it stuffed "Mexican Carry" style down the front of his pants? Wonder he didn't blow something else off.....at least then he could have earned a Darwin Award [:D]0 -
Hey I was born in that hospital (St. Joseph hospital), back in 1956. But that was before Houston became part of Mexico, and they added the Chistus to it's name...[;)]

So, why did a LEO not get up off his/her butt and tap the person on the shoulder, saying, "Sir. Please return to the front where we can inspect your weapon."0 -

He carried the gun in concealed.
Did not advise the LE he was armed.
I think they have filed on him already.
He was in violation of city codes.
Plus the state is gonna snatch his CHL.0 -

You will not get into a gun show in Portland without having your gun checked and tied. They want to avoid that type of problem here.[:0][:0]0 -
2dogs and I have the same thoughts, but I don't know if it is a FACT. He didn't tell the people at the door he was carrying or LIED about it. 0 -

LEOs don't work the gun shows here in MI. There is one person who handles the tickets/money and another who asks you if you have any firearms open and/or concealed. Any weapon coming through the door gets a zip tie put through it. 0 -

Several months ago I walked into a gun show at the Orange County Fairgrounds (Kalifornia) while the paramedics were treating a dealer who was injured by an accidental discharge. From what people were saying he was only hit by chips of cement from the floor. 0
