They do?? I've been in for 19 years and for the time being, I'm stateside. I bring in over 60k a year. Once I head over to the sandbox in a few months, I'll be adding about 15k to that. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the pay.

I'm glad to see the pro-military president is keeping the troops in his thoughts and prayers, but not the budget.[:(!]

Yes, but we (as do all Federal Employees)have access to something thta civilians don't have. The Thrift Savings Plan which is a great part of a larger porfolio. The money you dump into it gets deducted from your taxable income. I love it. You can choose from different Index Funds and Lifecycle funds. It's great because you're not taxed on the money before it goes in and you're not taxed on the growth. It's even better than a ROTH. A reasonably self-educated self-directed investor could do better on his/her own but the lack of exposure to income and capital gains taxes up until withdrawl is great! Nowhere in the TSP will you find a Value fund so I wouldn't use the TSP as a stand-alone investing tool but you're not limited to the percentage of your income that you can invest. There's no cap anymore.

lets see how much of that you have when you retire my friend.[;)]

last time i checked, 75k is chicken scratch for what is done to earn it.

    ask blackwater.[:0]

ask those truck drivers that drive your supplies around for you too.[:0]

Things are getting better for sure. I just heard Sean Hannity on the radio discussing taxes, say that people who make $200,000.00 a year cannot be considered rich.
