Encore rifle to pistol legality

Say I buy an Encore rifle and then convert it to a pistol with the factory barells, grips and forend, is it legal to do so? I have read that it is illegal to go from a rifle to pistol but OK to go the reverse direction. That makes sense accept that the encore is set up for this.[?]

  If you have a rifle stock on, You have to have a rifle barrel longer than 16", thats all you need to worry about.

  Pistol to rifle OK. Rifle to pistol prepare to meet Buba.
  Does it make any sense? No, but that's the way it is.
  We have to be satisfied that they at least allowed the pistol to rifle conversion.
