Sig owners
Lets see 'em. Im looking for a new carry piece and leaning towards Sig. Something in .40, really like the Equinox except for the stainless safety, slide release ect.

I own a p239 40sw, purchased in the early 90s. By far one of the most fun guns in my handgun collection. Next to my old model Vaquero.Im currently looking to add a p220 full size in 45cal.Any advantage or better value in the German made vs. Exeter NH.? Are there any problems with the ealier versions? The tactical rail option on the new models are nice although I dont believe

I have owned several P220's and I believe all were made in Exeter, NH. I have never had one bit of trouble with any of them. I now have a SA XD 45ACP with 14rds and a tac light by the bed. But you won't go wrong with any Sig.

I have a p245 and a 232 and both are top quality firearms and are above average in the accuracy department.
I believe the 220 was improved quite a bit in the last few years and I am not sure of the new model date but I would want the new model if I was buying.0 -
Never had a problem with my 220. It's an older model.
That is what I carry. (I'm trusting my life to it)
If I was to buy a newer one, I'd get one with the rail. You never know down the road what you might want to do. If you ever want to put some "toys" on your 220, you can if you have the one with the rail.
The one without the rail......well........0 -
SIGs are good, no matter which model or where it was made. I don't care about a rail. Ain't hanging lights, lasers, grenade launchers, winches, CD players or anything else on my pistol. 0 -
Forgo the European model with the mag latch on the bottom of the butt.
The 220 is a fine weapon..you can bet your life on it.0 -
There is a current auction here for a used German Sig p220 with box & papers .It looks very clean in the pics.My question is , do the earlier German made Sigs hold any more of a collectors' value than an all american made? I like new old stock & this is close.But Im also willing to wait for a unfired example if any exist.Thanks for imput 0 -
I had a German P220 in 9mm once, and it had the European mag release. As Highball wisely suggested, the Euro mag release should be avoided.
Actually, it depends on whether you like to reload in a hurry. If you do, then the American mag release makes more sense.0 -
I own several sigs including a P220 German made in the mid 80's and a P220ST stainles steel German frame U.S. slide a few years old. Both shoot great. The newer one has a nicer trigger pull. My newer one was purchased with the thought of using the rail. Sig for some reason decided to put a weaver style rail (narrower)on some of the earlier P220ST guns and a standard light will not work on it. They offer a nylon plastic adaptor but good luck finding a holster for it. The newer Sig guns have the correct picatinny style rail and are fine. I don't think these were made for long. Make sure of the rail you are getting if you want to use it. I have seen a few P220ST guns with the older rail new in box hence my warning. 0 -

P220, none finer for the money imo. I use mine to plink at the range while waiting for other shooters to arrive. 0
