i'm looking for a electric vehicle to drive to work. 10 miles to work. i seen a couple out there but i want one that will do over 40 mph. are there any out there that wont cost a arm and a leg. it doesn't have to go that fast just over 40 mph would be good. either that or i'm going to buy a cheap hybrid car. now this is going to be for work only so it only has to go 10 miles to work and 10 miles back home.. any advise

  Or a VW bug or MG or similar small old light car and a DIY job...

  I'd be concerned about electrical power consumed in heating, lighting and air conditioning. And then there's power steering and power brakes.
  Stalled traffic at night could be a problem.
