Good News From the State of Maryland!!!!
Our newly elected Gov, formerly the Mayor of Baltimore, Martin O'Malley, came riding into this legislative session declaring he was going to have the Death penalty abolished and the AWB re-instituted.
Capital punishment opponents were dealt a major setback in the General Assembly Thursday when a proposal to abolish the death penalty in Maryland failed to win the approval of a key Senate committee.
"Regrettably, the only way to stop some people from continuing to kill is to resort to the death penalty," said Sen. Alex X. Mooney, R-Frederick and Washington counties, who was regarded as a swing vote on the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, said before the roll was called."
In addition to that piece of news, the AWB Bill DID NOT make it out of committee. Aw, Poor Little Governor, he got boo-boo'd.
Several times this legislative season we have had powerful speakers on our side promoting the CCW. One of the speakers was Suzanna Gratia-Hupp who lost her parents in that Texas restaurant shooting. Gunnies numbering over 200 dressed in Coats and Ties made their presence known and spoke before the committee in responsible tones. THAT got their attention. It seemed to all of a sudden make these legislators realize we are not the fire breathing reprobates that the Brady people portray us to be...and which we fall into their traps by sometimes publicly acting out that very role. Let me tell you when a legislator gets cornered by 4-10 suit and ties voters and they discover what many of us do for a living AND where we live, they start acting differently IMMEDIATELY!
It's not a given, but, we have made some headway. Luck to us.

It is a St. Patrick's Day nightmare for the demented liberal Mick Mayor Martin O'Malley. 0 -
Good news to hear coming from Maryland! 0 -
You made my year! I was waiting for good news like this to get my next rifle - a Colt AR15! Hopefully the few letters that I wrote did some good. I threatened to move to VA and take my tax money with me. 0 -
O'Malley was the worst thing to ever happen to Baltimore. Lets hope the state holds together. 0
