I've received the Smallpox vaccine....
The Smallpox vaccine is a live virus, but its NOT smallpox. Its Vaccina. After you get the vaccine, it will form a blister which eventually ruptures. The secretions from the blister WILL spread if you do not keep the sore cleaned and dressed.
It IS possible to spread the virus via contact. The virus can actually spread to other parts of your own body via contact with the secretions from the blister. For example, If I scratched the blister then my ass, I'd have a nice group of blisters on my backside...0 -

They did at one time use a live smallpox virus. Before the discovery that cowpox gave the same immunity doctors used to vaccinate people with very mild cases of smallpox. It usually worked although there were some bad results. There were some bad results with cowpox as well but of course far fewer. 0
