how can the weather man be wrong
everyday, the local weather on television says it reached only 99, my weatherbug says 106, my car says 106, my outdoor thermometer says 106, ten banks i drove past today said up to 106{depending on the time i went by}
but the official temp is only 99 degrees {no index included in any of those}, i don't understand

It's a conspiracy to discredit the global warming theory..... 0 -
on the asfault its hotter, that may account for the bank and car, otherwise dont know
like weathermen are right anyway[:o)]0 -
Yep, where the sensore are located can make quite a difference. I can often see a 5deg drop when just a few miles out of town, due to less concrete/asphalt. There often 10-12deg difference between the top of my hill and the bottom too. 0 -
The official temperature is taken in the shade, sheltered by baffles from a direct wind current, five feet off the ground, and over a grass or soil covered area, (not over or near pavement, asphalt, or concrete).

that's about where mine is in the back yard, without the baffles, reads same as weather bug, and the rest of them 0 -
[8D]-Yea, we're wrong too--
--When the Weather pro says it'll get up to 78 deg. in the Bay Area it usually is 74 in my Back patio--bummer--

Like my weather station, it reads ambient air temperature 20' off the ground.0 -
i thought about this some more, and the input about location of their thermometer vs. all the others, and how they all work in-sync with the weather mans thermometer the rest of the year, and are only different during extreme heat 0 -

Tell us about ambient temperature, Wally. And thermoscreens. And psychrometers. And...0 -

And all this time I figured you to be an adiabatic warming kind of guy.
