Check for ammo on clearance at WalMart!!!
I was in the local WalMart today and naturally, stopped by the ammo case. I noticed a bunch of red "Clearance" stickers. They had a bunch of Remington 270, 30/06, and 7mm Mag ammo on clearance for $7.00 and $9.00. Then, I saw the Remington .40 FMJ for $7.00 a box (50). The kid behind the counter said that they had eight boxes.....I bought them all. He also said that they had Rem. 9mm FMJ for $5.00 a box, but some other buy bought all that. $7/box is a great deal. Maybe I'll check the other Walmarts in my area this week!!!!

My son told me of a news report that Wal Mart is getting out of the ammo business in urban areas but not rural. There was some number of stores that would be affected. I haven't seen the report, but if I was in a big city I'd stock up. 0 -
Follow Walmart. They might be eliminating firearms/ammo from their stock as a product line. Joe 0 -
Friend of mine came over tonight and brought me a case of Remington .223 52gr bullets Walmart had on sale. He said he seen them and bought himself and me a case. I shoot 55 Gr in my rifles but my AR-15 probably want notice much difference. They are 100Rnds to a case, but he would not tell me the price because he would not allow me to pay him for them.
Edited to add: They were Winchester pointed soft tip bullets.0 -
good, it'll be easier on the gun shops. 0 -
I'll check tomorrow. 0 -
I ran on to a similar situation at a local Wal-Mart. They had Winchester white box full metal jacket .223 for 4.00 a box. That sounded like a deal until I realized it was 40 round boxes for $4.00 and not the usual twenty round boxes that normally sell for $4.00.
I also ran on to some 35 Remington for 5.00 a box but at the time I didn't have anything that would shoot that ammo so I didn't buy any. Figures, now I own a cherry Remington 141 pump action rifle in that caliber. Oh well, hind sight and all that.

P.S. Maybe that will clear it up!0 -

WHAT???
I'll bet you meant the 20 round boxes were $4 and not the 40's... either was $.20 per round is CHEAP.0 -

This is because you don't know how to communicate with your wife. You may have been married a long time, but it is obvious you've not mastered wifespeak yet.
1. You do not ask for permission to purchase ammunition.
2. You address your wife in a respectful manner. You say, "Hey honey, guess what? I found a great way to save some money!" She says, "I saw this commercial on TV. We're not switching to GEICO." You say, "No, no honey. Nothing like that. Imagine this. Imagine you're at your favorite shoe store, and these darling black shoes with a kitten heel that you've been keeping your eye on for months suddenly goes on sale. Well, you have to have it, don't you? I mean, you wouldn't want to wait and have the store sell out of them, would you?"
She would say, "Why, of course not! That would be silly. And wasteful. And, we all know how important it is to save money in these times. I would, of course, probably pick up more than one pair if they were on sale, perhaps in a few different colors, but at least two pair in the event that I love the shoes so much and they discontinue them, I could have a second pair in case the first pair wear out or get scuffed, or if I have to throw it at you when I'm mad and you duck and the darling shoe with the kitten heel flies through an open window, down into traffic, and gets run over by an ape of a man driving too fast down the road."
You say, "Great! I'm glad you understand." Then you pick up your ammo, pay for it, and leave with a smile on your face.
Now, understand, by communicating to her in wifespeak, you likely have to go to your closest shoe store and allow her to browse around and possibly make a purchase. But, at least you'll get your ammo without an argument.0 -
Our Walmart already got rid of the firearms but still have ammo and yes, it's really cheap there!! we get two or three boxes every trip! 0 -
Oh shucks Walfart not going to sell ammo or they now are selling it at prices the rest of us have to charge to make $1.00 a box... Waht a freaking pity ..[:(!] 0 -
