An Interesting Story....
Here's and interesting and yet absolutely true story. I know, because it happened to me. First, some background. A few weeks ago I was taking a break at work, just resting my tired feet and going over a copy of the Johnson City Press, a local newspaper, that someone left on the table. My attention was drawn to an ad for a giveaway the newspaper was doing: free King James Bibles. Now, I didn't particularly need a new Bible, mine was worn, but not that bad. For some unknown reason, I felt like I just had to enter. Not only that, I further felt like I was going to win. The winnners would be listed in the Tuesday paper the next week.
When Tuesday rolled around, I had a pretty hectic shift and ...yep, you guessed it, I didn't remember to buy a copy of the
paper that day. Well, I felt pretty bad, because I still had this odd feeling about that contest. So...to make a long story short, I forgot about it, until eating lunch at work some days later. Again, someone had left a copy of the Johnson City Press. They were still
running the contest and my name was there as a winner. Now if I had bought the paper the week or so previously when I should have, my name wouldn't have been there. And here, when there was no reason for me to be reading that paper, someone left a copy here again for
me to find? Coincidence? Read on...
After work today, I went to the Johnson City Press to pick up my
free Bible. The nice lady there explained to me that I would need to drive to the business that sponsored the Bible Giveaway, in my case this was Casey Well Drilling & Pump Service in Jonesborough.
Now, after putting in a day at my job in Kingsport and driving to
Johnson City to pick up my Bible, only to be told it was in Jonesborough, really messed up my schedule. I had customers coming
and a UPS delivery scheduled, so I had to go home. The Bible would have to wait until another day.
Then things went off my schedule and onto an entirely different
agenda. I was heading down a one way street and was cutting left onto another one way street, when... Bam!!!
A delivery type truck slammed into my Subaru at the driver's
side left rear panel just past the rear wheel, catching the last two feet or so of my vehicle. I was pretty shook up, but ok. I jumped out of my car to check on the driver, but he was already out and phoning the police. After an exchange of paperwork and a citation for yours truly, I met up with my Mrs. so I'd have a ride in case my car broke down. I was tired and ready to go home, but the Mrs. pointed out that we should get the Bible since we were that close already and I figured I'd already mised both my customers and UPS, which a phone call soon confirmed.
Leaving my Subaru parked at Toys R Us, the Mrs. and I drove to Jonesborough in my Dodge Dakata. I was pretty bummed, thinking my "free" Bible was going to cost me a $100. visit to traffic school. I said something to the effect that this would be my most expensive Bible yet. It struck me as ridiculous to be having this much trouble going to pick up a Bible that I could have bought 5 copies of for what my traffic school was going to cost.
We pulled into Casey Well Driling & Pump Service where the two
gentlemen behind the desks quickly procured the Bible for me. I thanked the men and left, new Bible in hand.
As I looked at the shiny, plastic wrapped blue Bible, it occured to me that it would maked a nice giveaway on Gunbroker. Then a new idea floored me. Why would I go to all this trouble, spending several hours on the road, just to get a free Bible I could have bought anywhere for much cheaper than my lost time. Why? I thought further. I'd missed some important clients and a UPS delivery as well. Then I realized, without the story, perhaps none of you would be interested in this giveaway, especially the one God wants to reach with this Bible. Here's the deal...
I only have one free Bible, dark blue cover, King James. The first person who posts here gets it, but you must promise to read it
or pass it on to someone who needs it. Thanks.

Great story and an awsome give away. Mine has many miles left on it also. Give it to somebody that don't have one and needs it.

One more time. If no one posts for the Bible by Sunday, I'll pass it on some other way. 0
