Neighbor says the punk has lawyered up.
Guess his dad has hired him a lawyer. Rick said he got a call yesterday from a lawyer for the kid and he was real polite. Said HE'LL be handling the restitution for the boy, not the father, and wanted Rick to send him an estimate for his damages.
Rick told him he wanted to handle it through the courts, not as a private matter.
I don't expect a call today because I doubt he works on Saturday, and, if I get one at all, he's going to hear the same thing Rick told him.
Maybe he already knows that![}:)]

i would settle myself, the courts will do their part for the coke etc. and you will be resolved from here out, after all you have to live next to him long after he goes to court 0 -
Just because the lawyer is offering restitution does not mean it won't be going to court. He may just be posturing for some leinancy from the judge/court system. 0 -

I think it's a good thing to hold the kid responsible for what he has done, and not let his dad "buy" his way out of it all. Maybe this sill put the kid on the right track in life. And then maybe it won't. Only time will tell. 0 -

You are definately younger than me, and although it wasn't meant as an insult, your difference to it shows your age. If you think I was calling you names, I'm sorry, because I wasn't. I was saying you are being childish.
Where did I make a comment about this boys looks? I made comments on his actions. I have no problem on commenting on this girls actions, I do when it results in personal comments about her looks, which she can do nothing about.
You need to be man enough to admit you took a low and cheap shot on someone you have had no contact with, has never injured or damaged you, has not attacked or hurt you in any way, and yet you seem to feel it's justified.

i look at it this way, you live next door to him, he did what he did, it was very wrong, you deserve restitution, but as i stated you have to continue to live next door to him, i myself like to get along with my neighbors, and by excepting him paying up you very well may get the respect you deserved in the first place, and then some by showing you understand that people make mistakes
on the other hand some people are just sheet heads and never learn, only you can judge this matter, but i would not rule out being a better neighbor "just because he screwed up"

this way you will know the dad didn't let him slide. Even at $10/ hour you can get alot of lawn mowing and garden tilling done, and may teach the punk values,[we know the law or his dad won't]. 0 -

I had a run in with a Jr. Crook a few years ago. We went through the court system and was awarded restitution as part of the kid's punishment. The little bast*** got community service, manditory family counselling and they had to pay me back. Got every dime owed. Ask for restitution from the judge. 0 -

1) He lives the next block over, not next door.
2) I don't know him, and this was not the best way to meet.
3) He has a criminal history of this stuff, and his dad always buys him out of trouble.
4) His dad tried to strongarm me into a take it or leave it situation.
5) It's obvious that dad isn't going to stop him, so I'll let the legal system have a crack.
6) Restitution is not an issue with me. I'm insured.
7) I never really wanted the respect of a criminal, and he has the record to prove he is one.
8) My decision was what I thought was best for him and the society who will have to deal with him on a daily basis, not what was best for me or my pocket book.
I don't have a clue if I'm doing the best thing or not, but he (and his fahter) put me in a position of having to make that call, and I'm doing what I think is right. If they don't like it, they should have done something to prevent it coming up. Time will tell.0 -
Don't back off an inch. Let the legal process run it's course. We've had exactly the same type of problems in my 'hood. The only thing these degenerates really understand is a solid a$$ whippin' and if you do that then you're the one with legal problems. In my day if you would pull this schit you'd be better off dealing with the Police than with your old man. The father is as big a knuckle head as the kid here. It's my guess this is the tip of the iceberg with this boy. He needs to understand that ANY illegal behavior will be reported and charges filed if possible. Maybe after a few times he'll realize the stupidity of his actions, then again maybe he won't and he'll have a life of problems with the Law. Let the courts deal with him. It will be a long, drawn out process, but may teach the boy a lesson before he gets into bigger crimes. 0
