Auto AC refill amount
I put a new compressor and dryer on my car and it said to put 1.5 pounds in it. How much oil and R134A each individually should I put. Also in freon (ounces) how much is equal to 1.5 pounds. Any help would be appreciated.

If I remember right, 1 can of oil charge and 4 cans of freon is what most cars hold. That is 12 oz cans I think. But I used a pressure meter (high and low side) and also vaccumed out the system. You don't really "have" to vaccum the system, but you should. 0 -

His entire system is now full of air, and needs to be vacuumed out and leak checked before he adds any freon.

Look at the AC info plate on the car, it will tell you the charge weight your car holds, divide that by the weight of freon in each can (16oz / pound). You need a gauge set (and possably some adapters) and a evacuating pump. If you don't have the tools, and knowlege, to do the job properly, you shouldn't be doing it at all.0 -
