Hookers work good, but burn through in a hurry.
Think about Jet-Hot for them.

burn through in a hurry compared to what? just wondering. Hooker headers are made of 16 guage steel as are most other major manufacturers' headers, Hookers "Super Comps" are made of 18 guage steel. And what would "in a hurry" mean to you? Like I stated before just wondering.0 -
hookers and chevy's just go together well

In my hotrod days of my mis-spent youth, I've owned 2 pairs of Hookers and never had a problem. I tried a pair of Hedmans once, they rusted out holes in less then a year. [:D] 0 -
I built my own. Equal length primaries, 2-1/8"x34"x3-1/2". Hard to find a set that fit a 1960 Dodge D100 with a 528 Hemi. I drive a tunnelrammed stroker Hemi.[:D]Dave

Hooker long tubes on our Mustang. Makes that 351CJ sound great. Still need an "X" or "H" pipe. 0 -
I went thru two sets of headers on my '72. I finally gave up because they just don't last like the cast iron ones. I put the cast iron ones on and SS exhaust pipes and that is still working. I am on my third set of mufflers for that truck, but thats no problem, as Midas was dumb enough to sell me "warranty for life" mufflers. Add in the "warranty for life" batteries from J. C. Penny and Checker and you can see that I'm in good shape for the long haul.
Hey it's only got 250,000 miles on it. It's just broke in.0 -
I'm slowly upgrading my '03 tahoe (5.3l v-8). Would the hookers be good for my truck? 0 -
I have Hooker's with "jet hot" or eqiv. coating. They work great and look great!! On a big block Chev.
VROOOOOOOM!!0 -
Hookers are nice headers.Got a set of used Hooker 15/8" D-ports(cheap) if anyone is interested.[:D] 0 -
[8D]--I've had Hooker Headers on a couple of my Dodge 4wd's and they were pretty well made, I never burned thru em though--
--I just built my own when I built a kit GT-40 in the 80's-check-out my 351 C

I used hookers on all of my door cars, but I always had them Smiley'ized by Smiley's Custom Headers. Plus Smiley made all the pipes for the dragsters. 0 -
I'll never put any headers on a street car again, without Jet-Hot. The best route is to design them and have them custom built, like jimbowby did.

Doug, not only do they need to be coated on the outside of the tube, but inside also. The worst thing about not having the tubes coated is the rust, but you will not have rust problems with the jet hot, it is really great stuff, look cool too.0 -
Probably one of the best performing BBC headers, I paid over $600 for mine a few years back because they were Jet Hot coated. I am going to put a 502 in the Chevelle and will probably go with either manifolds or shorty headers because the clearance issues that Hookers have. I bottomed out the brand new set on my Chevelle because there was a small dip in the road. Ill lose performance with the shorties but atleast they wont get beat up. 0 -
Doug's Headers have always fit Big Block Chevelle's better than Hooker's, give them a call and maybe try them out, it's better than loosing performance. 0 -
I put a set of Hooker Super Comps on the BBC in my 70 z28 0 -
As far as I know, Jet-Hot is the only outfit that coats them inside and out. The inside coating also helps smooth the exhaust flow, for an additional horsepower gain of (something like) 700 horsepower (at least).

sound good on old 70's vintage bikes too. 0 -
