Herbal Remidies?
New Erb store in town I stopped in took a look around and the lady who owns the store looked at my hand and told me what erbs I needed. Do any of you guys believe they work? Does anyone use them? And do they do what they claim?

Some do for us - and some don't. Camomile tea put us out like a
bottle of Super Sominex! We have always kept a well stocked herb
garden out back - just replaced the Rosemary and Basil last week.[8D]0 -
I don't have a clue about looking at your hand and figuring out what 'herbs' you might need... she might have sniffed it to see how much money was in it, then decide you need to buy something!
but do they 'work'? yes. no. sometimes. they can have an effect. in the hands of a well trained herbologist who knows what to give, how to give it and what for, they can have profound effects.
herbs you buy in a store may have been sitting in the bottle for a while, and they do lose potency if they sit for too long. also, since they're regulated by the FDA about as much as candy, there's no guarantee they're efficacious in the first place. they may be weak.
legitimate pharmaceuticals, on the other hand, are mandated by the FDA to have a declared potency right off the shelf, tested to verify they will work as described for such-and-such a shelf life, and contain exactly what they say they do.
I know because at one time I was working at a pharmaceutical company doing those exact tests, and was preparing to become involved in a company that was attempting to bring herbal supplements up to those same FDA standards. which is next to impossible to do with vegetable matter comparable to oregeno.
I could give you something that if you took it three times a day for 5 days, the next 3 days you will have erotic dreams; you will have dreams that your weiner is 3 feet long; all day long you'll be looking for your girlfriend. then it will go away and won't ever work again.
unlike Viagra, which you can take any time you want and is quite intense, but only works a few hours. my stuff lasts day and night for 3 days. once.
such are herbals.0 -

They absolutely work! Get you some books and start reading up on them. I believe herbs to be God's natural medicines and have had great success with them. You have to be careful with some of them as they can interact with manmade medicines. The liquid extracts seem to work the best...but they can be pricy.0 -
All things considered I would rather have my meds in known doses. Some herbals have stuff that helps, and often toxins as well. Foxglove tea is a heart stimulent, and can kill you if you drink too much digitalis. Lots of the touted herbals only work for the seller, not the sucker buying, like echinacia, ginko biloba, black cohosh, soy and others shown to have no value whatever. 0 -
If my weiner is already 3 ft long, would it make it 6 ft long[?] 0 -
Do herbs work? Yes, and no. As with synthetic medicines, herbs can affect people differently, and can have serious negative reactions/side effects. You need to know the condition you are treating, and if the herb "remedy" will irritate any other conditions you may have. The dosage is REALLY important, and results should be closely monitored.
Quite a bit can be taken from looking at the hand. The color, texture of the skin, swelling of the fingers, or the opposite. Along with the color of (and under) the fingernails, as well as how they grow, can tell you some of the deficiencies you may have. There are many methods of "diagnosis" and no one single method will tell all.
Herbs are just plants. Many people use herbs daily, without thinking about it. Does anyone use coffee as a stimulant? Raisins or prune juice to keep regular? There are a lot of examples of daily use of herbs that have become commonplace. Herbal teas, being a very common one.
I have personal experience with a case of "Cerebral Palsy" and "Rose Petal" tea, which I won't go into now. But suffice it to say that it was the talk of a medical community for a while, with words like "impossible" and "miraculous" being thrown around.
As with any "medicine" caution should be used when treating any condition with herbs.0 -
some do .. some dont..a garantee is a bit of every thing does us good..(within reason) [;)]

I spend a lot of money every month at the health food store. I was sent there by an MD.
I take licorice and pantothenic acid to boost my adrenal gland. They work very well.
I take several other herbs daily.
I take saw palmetto for prostate problems, it is very effective.
You need to study up on them to figure out what works for you.
Looking at your palm and diagnosing you sounds like a bunch of bs.
True, there is some junk for sale at the health food store. And some of the stuff is dangerous if you take too much.
But, the pharmacy is not necessarily safe. In the sixties, pregnant women were prescribed Thalidomide by their doctors. Nobody knew, but it caused legs and arms to not grow. Or, instead of an arm, a baby would have a flipper, like a seal.
Many thousands of children were born horribly deformed before this prescription drug was pulled from the shelves.
More recently a drug was put out that caused heart attacks. The pharmaceutical company knew this, but put it out anyway.
Even if you buy something at the health food store that doesn't help you, it probably won't harm you unless you take too much.0 -
I take Vicodin. It's a very good herb. 0 -
Back in the 70's when health foods, etc. were all the rage, I happened
by a health food store. The Owner/operator had an eye chart that
seemed pretty accurate at diagnosing specific illness'.
Many years ago I had a really thick book that was like the bible of
herbal cures, but can't recall the name offhand.
Currently I use at least one herbal medicine that works extremely
well, for it's given purpose.0 -
Make sure you consult your doctor if you plan to incorporate herbal remedies into your diet. Some herbal remedies (even though they are "natural") are not good for you in certain doses and frequencies. Some herbal remedies interact negatively with birth control and can result in unexpected pregnancy. Just because it's herbal doesn't make it "safe". Make sure your doctor knows what you are taking, how much and how often and make sure that it's good for you. You have to be able to trust your Doctor though because this stuff is competition for the pharmeceutical companies out there and a lot of Doctors are in their hip pockets. 0 -
Herbal remedies are not a "cure" but the compound in them helps you to heal. 0
