Septic issues?

Anyone here ever use the "magic potion" remedies for clogged leach fields? Any success? Total failure? Got a mushy spot I want to get rid of without putting in a new septic yet.

    It is probably a broken pipe,dig up that spot and check.Had the same thing here,it was just abroken joint and the pipe had dropped.

    Blockage in line or as stated line has dropped and not allowed sewage to flow farther. Time to dig.

    Do I put in a temp drain to dry it some first?

    Not really needed. I would dig it up IN front of the low spot. Let the hole fill up and drain, and then dig up the rest of the system behind the hole. Is it field tile or plastic? Something ran over the spot and collapsed it?

    I couldn't break that news to him [:(]... However shovel it up.. IF it is the old clay tile.. just have the local septic guy put in all new field system. No tank needed. Let him get the permits and have at it.

    Oh , one small detail I forgot to mention... When you hit the clog..BE CAREFULL.. it might have pressure on it ..then the SHTF [:o)][:o)]

    House was built in '89-so I doubt its clay tile. Luckily-I have my own backhoe and the pitch of the yard is about perfect to just bring in fill and raise the whole thing about 5 feet. I won't have a hill to mow anymore either. So it won't be all bad.

    based ona typical 2 bedroom home, figure every 20 years on a good system before rebuild is needed. (less for more bedrooms and more bathes.) sounds like youre approaching the golden moment. do it right. dont cut corners. it will serve you better in the long run. having the backhoe is 90% of the expense. sound like you got it covered. have fun!
    ive done 3 in my lifetime.
