While I don't have an appropriate caption to offer, this type of feminist activism is nice, probably gives these ladies a warm and fuzzy feeling but it offers them absolutely no viable and effective way out of a physically abusive relationship nor does it offer any real protection from violent acts perpetrated by predators, muggers, rapists, etc. Locking one's doors, avoiding unlighted areas and not walking down a lonely desolate street late at night are pretty much common sense. IMHO and FWIW, it would probably be better for them if they bought and trained with a handgun that they could carry concealed and actually use proficiently in real time mode to defend themselves. Maybe then, some of the scumbags who habitually prey upon women may get the message or at least "deactivated". 0 -

SOUTH TOLEDO -- They took over the streets of south Toledo, trying to "Take Back the Night." More than a hundred women marched down South Detroit Avenue Friday evening, chanting and carrying signs, raising awareness to stop domestic or sexual violence in Toledo and in all of America. The reasons they came were many, but for some, it was very personal.
They marched as survivors of sexual or domestic violence, and in memory of women who did not survive. Pat Rizzi was there for her daughter, Michelle, who was killed seven years ago by her estranged husband, Dennis Salerno. Pat now helps organize the event. "[To] try to stop what happened to Michelle from happening to someone else," said Rizzi. "Doing it in her name so maybe she didn't die in vain."
"Take Back the Night" is now in its 13th year in Toledo. It moves to different locations each year to show that domestic violence can happen anywhere. The march showed how strong and powerful women can be when they take a stand against violence. "You have to [take a stand,]" said Ashley Robarge, a marcher. "There's so many things that happen that people don't know about, that you have to."
Inside Bowsher High School, The Clothesline Project paid tribute to victims of violence -- some of the worst you can imagine. Each T-shirt hung on the clothesline represented a victim. It helped make a huge impression on the people who were there. I think the younger you know about things, the more cautious you can be," said Andrea Ferguson, a high school senior. "You need to know who to stay away from."0
