Park-league Football /nut jobs/for the kids..right
We have had one horrible yr after another UNTIL last year....we won every game except for one (against our rival team ONEONTA.) This yr is going great. We look good and I have no complaints. This is with a coach that my husband played for when he was in high school....he is a great coach and hasn't played the area "hob-knobs" as the team favorites and it has SOME parents in a real huff.
I come to most practices late...I'm not one of the mothers that "fit in" with the others there. They have the chairs all lined up each nite and cluck away tearing everyone to bits under their breath. I just don't have it in me at the end of my day to kiss the kind of feet it takes to be "in" with this group. I have found myself talking firearms with the men on occation....but usually I just stay to myself.
BUT TONITE.....I walk up to hear one of the cheerleader mothers saying "if we get people on the board to vote we can deal with him....we asked for him and did it to ourselves" this is when I interrupted. I asked....what were they speaking about...certainly not our coach....because he is doing an EXCELLENT job. We had the very first GOOD year ever last year and unless I personally see him sneaking off with young boys into the woods with my own eyes I wouldn't believe one word of banter spread about by the mouths at this park.
She said..."no, it isn't about the boys"..."he is a sexist pig and I know it for myself." I just looked at her like she had just said purple elephant herd (because all I could think was....WHAT THE HECK WOULD THAT HAVE TO DO WITH PARK FOOTBALL?) Turns out they are all upset because he didn't like the hoard of cheerleaders lined up in his way on the field.
We happen to have 25 little angels....screaming their little brains out during the game. Why is this OK???? When did it become cheerleading and not football....they seem to think that because they pay a fee it is now a "right" to be in the middle of the field. I don't think so...my thoughts are that if they limit the number of players.....why not limit the number of cheerleaders??? If they have 20 sign up and want to keep all of them....then let them take turns cheering.
I don't know if it is because these mothers are no longer "in charge" of the little world of park-land-football....or truely an insult given by the coach that made this rift in cheerleader-ville, but my two cents were voiced and I found myself in the middle of a group actually texting each other on their cell phones while I stood there for the rest of the practice alone. I hope these heffers don't run off a good coach because of their bad attitudes.

is this oneonta ny? 0 -
Nope.....Alabama where the park-mothers are like queens of the lands as far as the eye can see (from a folding chair.) 0 -
Sadly, sounds like there is mote potential for sitcom material. It's crazy how people can get so absorbed in their own little world.
Football is there for the cheerleaders. Interesting logic.0 -
Interesting how a mother who has a son but is upset with a cheerleading issue calls the girls "heffers". This is classic female hatred where you degrade and demean other women based on appearance or perceived sexual promescouity.
When the little "heffers" devolope eating disorders you can blame it on men and how obsessed we are with looks.0 -
This cheerleading coach is AT LEAST 400 lbs....and the assistant is right up there with her. These two are heffers in every sense of the word....grazing along chewing the cud and only stopping long enough to blurt out a LOUD MOOOO of some kind....letting everyone know where they stand.
I have a daughter that was on this very cheerleading squad at one time. It took my girl only one month to decide she HATED being around those people and quit cheering. (my prayers were answered that day.)
The cheerleaders aren't the problem...its the looney bunch that wants to be "in charge" of the park, football organization, field placement, parent meetings, coaching decisions and all because THEY ARE THE (all powerful) CHEERLEADER COACHES!!!!0 -
Looks like from some of the pics, that their are a lot of "heffers" in the stands too![:D] 0 -
LF
it will only get worse

its a power trip thing they are too incompetant to coach a school squad so they volunteer at these leagues to seem almighy[xx(] 0 -
Part of the reason I bristle at (but do) attending kid's sporting events. "Little League" parents, you find them in any sport, trying to run the show, orchestrate the great triumph for their child, as if were they not there, the child could not achieve it on their own.
Then we wonder why we raised a generation of crybabies and whiners...
I had this discussion with my daughter last night. Since when do parents have to go to every practice the kid's have? In my day, parents dropped the kids off and left, or the kid's found their own ambilation to practice. Ideally, the parent's have their lives, and are giving kid's the independence to learn how to suffer their own defeats, and how to perservere from them.
Parents need to get a freaking life. Nothing wrong in being proud of your kid, but truth is, he or she is not the center of the universe, regardless of how you think of him/her.
Not you personally, LF, just "you" in general.....0 -
I WIN.. I WIN.. WHATS MY PRIZE??
OH.. I thought that we were playing spot the heffer...0 -
My schedule doesn't permit me to stay at these practices. I usually get to the park about half an hour before they end. My in-laws are kind enough to take my son and they usually wait in the car...even though they know they don't have to stay.
We have had three boys get hurt during practices this season...little things....but it does happen. I think that part of why I get so aggrivated over these people is how stressful they make these things that DON'T MATTER!!!! We have a great team...and these idiots want to ruin a good thing because they aren't happy with the political mess they strive to dwell in.
All I care about is that my son is having a great time...we have had one of the best two years EVER for our little area. These people want to spread rumors and pick at the reputation of our coach because they aren't happy. It is just rediculous.0 -
forget organized team sports. take em all skeet/trap shooting.
dont laugh, teach them an olympic sport...teach them table tennis. NOT ping pong. REAL TABLE TENNIS.
heck... teach them tennis!0
