I missed my wife's b-day on the 5th. She was busy in the morning, so I decided to help my parents pick up a van and haul a trailer(same trip) and I was told it was going to be an hour tops, round trip. Somehow they forgot that the van and trailer were damn near half way across Wisconsin. A quick hour turned into a long 9 hour day. Yeah, I f-ed up, that's what I get for helping family out, they've been doing that to me alot lately.

Diamonds may help the guilt, and/or bruises.

My father-in-law came up to visit this weekend. We got along famously well, laughed, went to a branding, barbecued, went shooting, (that man can shoot!)went out to eat...
He was a doting grandfather, attentive listener, all-around fun guy and I was having the time of my life until yesterday morning.

When his daughter handed me an anniversary card.

    DOH!

This is the first time in three marriages that I've ever forgotten my anniversary. That it fell on Mothers Day, on a rare weekend that her father came to visit, means really very little.

    I forgot my anniversary.

Oh, I got her something really nice. Something she wanted..

But I just can't shake the guilt.

    I'm a heel.

Anybody else forgotten that important date?

My wife and I, both, forgot our anniversery this year.

I made it clear to my wife that my mind is not capable of remembering things like anniversarys, birthday's, etc so she MUST tell me or I WILL forget.

I do usually remember her birthday because my birthday is 7/12 and hers is 12/7.

    Sound reasoning.

Thanks, too, to HobbyGuy for the perspective.

    She doesn't seem too upset....
Of course, with all that was going on, she hasn't had time to dwell on it...yet.

I didn't even know Sunday was mothers day until Saturday evening. Don't sweat the small stuff days get jumbled all the time. It is just another day in the life of a blissfully married couple. [:D]

About 15 years ago I forgot our anniversary. But I did remember her sisters birthday which is the next day and sent her a card. The good thing was that my wife also forgot our anniversary. Until she went over to visit her mother. Sister was living home at the time. Mom asked first if she had seen the nice Bday card I had sent sis. Then she asked if I had taken her out for supper Friday night and what I had gotten her for our anniversary. Wife came home and started giving me merry old he--. I sat there listening for a minute then the light bulb came on. So I told her that I had remembered, but since she had forgotten I was just waiting to see how long it took her to realize our anniversary had gone by without her remembering it. Luckly a couple weeks before the anniversary I had picked up a card so I dug it out and gave it to her. Took her out to her favorite place for supper the next evening. That was a close call - taught me not to let it slip my mind again.

I've confused my wife's B-day with our anniversary.

Anniversary is the 9th of August
    B-Day is the 12th.

Yup, happened to my once...forgot her B-Day. Got all kinds of grief.

Vowed never again...what I do now is have "emergency gifts".

In my gun safe (wife never looks there), I have a gift wrapped bottle of her favorite perfume, some rather inexpensive gold ear rings (paid around $80 bucks) and a few cards (anniversary, b-day, X-mas, mother's day and Valentines). The cards you can buy really cheap after the holiday...they always go on sale. I buy the ones wiht a lot of blah, blah, blah...very little space left in them for your own writing.

In case of CRS, I'm covered.[^]

No problem here...My wife's birthday, Mother's day and our anniversary are all within two weeks. If they were not right on top of each other I might have messed up.

Families can be a black hole that will suck the life out of a marriage. If keeping my dad happy was a priority, I would be divorced and without a decent job. He doesn't understand when I won't help him with something that sounds simple, but I know from past experience that nothing with him is as easy as it sounds.

I need to plan for 1.5 hours before work to get ready for work. So if work starts at 2:00, I leave at 1:00 on a normal day. That means I tell him I am good until 11:30.

If I didn't do this, he would be asking me to help him until 30 minutes before I clock in when it takes 35 minutes to get to work. I would be covered in manure. This probably would not go over to well with most employers.

Families can be very difficult for a marriage.

Wow! Doesn't seem to matter much whether you remember or forget, eh?

If you've only missed it once in three years, you're probably o.k.

It took me three years to get my wife's B-day right. I thought it was 3 days fter it really was. As for the anniversary, I have yet to get her anything, or take her anywhere for it and we've been married for 11 years now.

You know, my wife went to great lengths to assure me that she found humor in the situation, and I was feeling pretty good about the whole deal...

I knew I could count on you to fix that for me.[:D]

My sister got remarried last year(5-02-06) and my mother called to wish he Happy Anniversary a week late(5-10-07), and my sister forgot and so did her new husband, their own anniversary. Thats two of a kind, said they have both been so busy they forgot.

I catch hell if I forget anything like that, but ask my wife when our wedding anniversary is(5-26-95) and she has to really think about. This is the same woman who put down my middle name wrong on my first borns birth certificate[:D].
