...Clay, Clay. When I talk with you and see if you can get the time to go bird huntin here this month...we'll talk about THAT! [:D]
In the meantime ponder:
Colt/Kimber $$$ no difference (new ones, except I can get you a few new Colts in various models CHEAPER)
Colt: AMERICAN with a long glorious history
Colt: Apprciates in value at a boringly consistant rate...IF for some strange reason you ever wanted/needed to sell it you will get a NICE return on your money. (thats the joo genes in me talking) [:D])
Colt: The original ALL others "try" to copy/clone, one must ask themselves "why"?
Kimber: uh, er uh..They make a pretty Raptor.
Kimber: Nice grips on the warrior
Kimber: Its like a new truck, buy it and it's already depreciated.
Kimber: Kimber has a nicer web site than Colt
Kimber has some neat boxes too
...When you get ready, with my limited knowledge of Colts...Ill be happy to help you with deciding which model, series, to choose.
GB has the best prices! The gunshow and locals around us are NUTS! If you want a new one, I know several GOOD dealers that have the best prices...NOTHING wrong with an older one...most of mine are older ones. I can let you handle several models, series, in different finishes to see what they feel and look like.
...AND if you want to change a few things on one for the fun of it, improve the trigger a little (they're FINE out of the box, dont pay attention to the urban legends) I have the contacts for parts at great prices,(triggers, springs, etc) a metal plater that is both good and reasonable, and I can do all the "drop-in" stuff (NOT a smith and dont claim to be)and then you'd know how to do it. There are only two books you really need, Vol I and II by Jerry Kuhnhausen that will enable you to do anything you care to with a Colt 1911...and I have a great source for those too, they have been out of print for several years...but I can get them both cheap..not Flea-barf either, or Amamzon!...Give you a call in a few days buddy...[8D]

I ordered a Marlin 1894SS in .44 Magnum a couple of months ago. I'm starting to doubt if I'll ever see it, but if I do, a Marlin 1894SS in .357 is next on my wish list. 0 -
Marlin 357 lever has been on my wish list for ages.
I deeply regret having sold both of my New Model Super Blackhawks. I finally got another one (3 screw) a few months ago but had a financial emergency and had to sell it, too!0 -

Well any gun is a good gun; that said tops on my list now are an AK of some sort, a Savage 12 BVSS in .223, and an Uberti .45 LC revolver (not the matte finish) with 5 or 7.5" bbl. But I just bought a trapdoor springfield so the money situation dictates that all of the above will be some time in coming. 0 -
Oh yeah, I forgot about the long guns. Having just acquired a Yugo AK, I'm now dreaming of that Marlin 39A .22, a decent (used, if necessary) .30-'06 bolt action, and a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag. Maybe even the same in .357 Mag, too. Oh, and a .308 semi-auto "battle" rifle of some configuration.
Gee, the list keeps grooooowwwwwiiiiinnnnnngggggggg....
So many guns; so little cash. [:(]0 -

Can't afford the M82a1 yet...
.450 Bushmaster seems promising but also pricey,
Anything Dan Wesson (especially the ones with the faded "purple" finish,
M-44 (I see them advertised in Shotgun News all the time for $79 but at the gunshows folks still want $200[:0]0 -
