Here is the very first reference to a tax inside what are currently the confines of the United States that I could find.

Real property tax has, however, a long history. In 1646, the Massachusetts Bay Colony began taxing settlers who owned property. After independence, many states started to tax property. As time passed, local communities took over the power to tax property. Today, property tax is usually paid to a local government, a school district, a county government, or a water district, but not to a state.

360+ years of people in charge picking our pockets is not news. Getting someone to put a stop to this theft would be!

I had not seen it. Pretty cool and makes you wonder if there is anything that can be done. I feel a lot like the horse in the trailor on the way to the glue factory as the pigs laugh it up in the farmer's home.
