Electronic Trigger, but for what gun?
Hi, I'm new here and looking for some help. I have an electronic trigger and I need to find out what gun to use it on. I have pictures of it. This trigger was made in the 70's and looks real nice. Please help me out someone!

Not sure Just a wild guess-
Remington's Etronix rifle? Think they were made in the early 80's Never seen one, but thats the only thing I could think of with an electronic ignition.0 -
I called Remington about the Etronix rifle and they don't have a clue. They said the Etronix was built in 2000 and nothing before. I'm still clueless.. what gun can this trigger go into? 0 -

To me it looks like an electric solenoid and trigger ... if so, I believe they are now considered a destructive device ... and if its not registered, you may be in possession of an unregistered machine gun ... even though you don't have the firearm it fits to.
Too bad Mark Christensen isn't around anymore ... he'd probably know.0 -

This appears to be one of the triggers made in the late 70's and early 80's by Franklin C. Green, Electronic Trigger Systems, originally located in Montrose, CO. and then relocated to Minnetonka, MN. The addresses and phone numbers that I have saved have long been disassociated with that company.
It's possible that this is for a Remington M700 judging by the set up but that is strictly a guess without actually putting it together.

I found the paper work on this thing! It was one of the very first triggers for the Remington 700 ADL rifle. This has good instructions on how to remove the factory trigger and safety and replace it with this electric one. 0 -

The Etonix uses a electric PRIMER (just like a lot of "big gun" cartridges IE: 20mm and up). Electricity is applied via a contact on the center of the primer and a ground path aganst the case head to ignite the priming compound (picture a miniture blasting cap).0 -

That part I know about, But was wondering(or trying to figure out) if Remington tried to take the trigger system one step farther with the etronix rife (that failed miserably).

Recently there was a notice saying that any device you mount onto the trigger is illegal (such as the "hell fire" spring etc)....I am NO expert on the day to day rulings but I do know that it will be heck to pay if you are caught with this...you may as well put it on a home-made ruger 22lr pistol if you can get a rifle reciever and want to also take on THAT argument. 0 -
This is not something you mount on the trigger, this is an entirely new trigger you put in the gun so it's not illegal.
In the manual for this trigger it also says they expected to start modification kits for the model 700 BDL and the Anschutz rifle and winchester model 52D. I find that intersting and wonder if they did make them.0 -

You may want to check into it more...you could have lots of things that are not allowed now. Its not something I would take a chance on until you did some homework. We saw a guy walking around the gun show with a M14 that had the full auto parts "taken out" and he thought it was fine to have that. This isn't the same....but gun laws are stupid and nit-picky is what I am trying to get across. Like short barrel rifles not being allowed and pistol grips not allowed for 18 yr olds or high cap mags in certain areas....along with the whole lot of crap you have to think of when dealing with guns....this is one "item" I wouldn't have installed until someone could tell me (who has the authority to say for certain and in writing) tells you its fine.
We had an agent tell us that you couldn't cut the barrels down on a shotgun unless we had a manufacturers license at our last little meeting.....they are impossible to predict sometimes.0 -
Well thanks for your concern, but this is not a machine gun. It is for a Remington model 700 ADL and I don't think you could make it into a machine gun. This is more for competition shooting I think rather than people shooting. [:)] 0 -
I wasn't trying to say it would make it a machine gun...it just that the way the ATF changes the rules this may be one of those items you can't just "install" because of the latest newsletter. The thing I got at the store was very vague and "open" to read it however you wanted to. These guys KNOW they can get away with pretty much changing the laws with these little newsletters and I hate to see anyone end up on the bad end of things only because some agent sees things a certain way.
Its not WHAT it does....its more the changing of parts that makes me think some overzelous person may give you a hard time and I HATE those kinds of hard times. They can't take everything away....so they nit pick the ever lovin crap out of every little thing until only us true gun lovers can deal with all the crap and have anything at all.0 -
