    H.J. Jackson..is a retired Texas Ranger.
Statement was made 2 years ago and taken out of context.
    ZZZZZZZZZZZZ....
I like to be there and see you call this dude a "douchbag" to his face.

PS..so much for being thrown of the NRA board.

He's still a gentleman. His comments regarding full auto small arms are every bit as bad as the original statement quoted in this post.

Ruger was an ardent advocate of the Assault Weapons Ban.

As for those of us who pay, write letters, and instruct on an individual basis when we get the chance, there's really not a lot more we can do. Especially considering that we have things like, oh, jobs, family responsibilities, etc. That is why we PAY organizations to represent our interests: WE DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR ABILITY TO DO ALL THE WORK OURSELVES.

I assume you are including yourself in this group. You seem like a nice sort of person so I'll take your word for it. [;)] For the record I don't like what he said either. I'm just not ready to bash the whole organization for it. [:)]

i can understand havent military guns if you need them for a task, but to own them and hoard them just because you have a right to is silly.

That's rediculous. I need my semi-autos for one basic reason. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.

Nice backpedal Bob, what about all the other things people own just to make a statement? like 100 year old houses that are not energy efficent?
Why would anyone have to show any reason for the firearms they own?

Jackson's "clarification" was nearly as bad as the original statement. In fact, it was just as bad. He's got one in the wringer and he's trying to weasel out.

I respect and salute his years of law enforcement duty but I wish him removed from the NRA Board ASAP.

    Saxon..
Your last word blather will not wash on this one.
You and others tapped into old, pointless information.
You chimed in on info you took as recent and factual.

Your smart man...check out the info.

    Two Dogs,
If what was said is not factual, post a link to your source, if it is, and he said it "way back" in 2005, How does that make his statement any less damaging?
