Just in for the weekend
Just popped in to say "Hey Y'all",
Havn't posted in quite awhile. I'm working with a company that has a west coast attitude about firearms and such. They block all sites with a reference to firearms. Don't have or didn't have a good connection at the condo, but that may be changing. So for the most part I havn't been able to get to a place where I could get a connection and post.
I know I owe a set of grips to OG and he's been real patient for them. I'm working on them again from time to time, no photos at this time tho'.
Have worked a small 'hobby' project or two just to fill an evenings time, no photos on those either, don't like the last one and will redo it anyway.
At home for the long weekend. Wasn't sure I wanted to drive down from Atlanta but decided to come. Had to deliver the car (I had the wife's car in Atlanta the last couple of weeks) and pickup the Echo. The brakes were really bad on the Echo, glad to get them fixed. It took just over six hours to make the trip down I75 to here. I stopped once for gas and once for a call of nature. Other than that it was smooth sailing all the way down.
First thing, well second or third thing, I did when I got here was crawl under the house to reattach a flexible duct to the A/C plenum. It had been knocked loose the last time a repair guy was here. We couldn't get them to come back out and reattach it and the wife thinks they were irritated she called and asked them to. Probably more surly than irritated. So I was crawling in the dirt under the house, just enough room between the ground and the floor joists in some places to get through. Hey! I'm a big guy I need room. I got it reattached and then crawled back out, but it whupt me. I must have breath some mold or something under there and I admit I haven't had that much physical activity so I was straining and huffing by the time I got out. Next time I'll pay some kid to go under so I don't have to. I was aching and my head was stuffed up last night and felt like it was swollen this morning because of it.
A couple of Aleve,- good ol' Aleve,- and a couple of cups of coffee this morning and I was almost as good as new. Back still hurts, I hope it's better before I have to make the drive up to Atlanta on Monday. Stomach muscles..what little of them are left...are streached and sore. What a wussy! But I can say the the trip down aided and abetted the upkeep of the home-stead. I think I'll hire someone to come by and assess what it would take to do the repair/upkeep while we're away in Atlanta. That would be a good time, when no ones here. If I can find someone trustworthy and If the price is not too dear. Maybe I could have it done in stages if the price is too high for one lump sum. Hmmmm? Have to ponder that.
Hope to see some of the other family while I'm here. Saw my step-sister for a few moments this afternoon. She's doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances (don't ask). Maybe the girls will come by and the gran' daughter. Don't know but maybe.
The job goes on in Atlanta and pays too good to walk away from it unless I've got something closer to home and of long duration. I'd take a bit less if I could be home in my own bed of an evening. For a three month job it's streached out some. It's been six months and they're saying they've got work up there to cover the rest of the year and then some. So...guess I'll be there awhile. 'less that job down the road comes in finally (..don't hold your breath).
Havn't done any shooting since I've been there twelve hour days and weekend work cuts into the time you have to get 'stuff' done. Plus I'm living right in MidTown. But we'll see, things have lightened up lately..so maybe.
Just wanted to stay in touch.
A big 'HEY!' to all y'all.
