I told the car dealer he had nothing else on his lot that was suitable in exchange for the car he sold me with the rusted out front suspension. He then said they were under no obligation to do anything, but would pay to have the front end welded. The drivers side had already been welded at some point and he said his mechanic had told him it was rusted when he replaced the bushing on the front end before I bought it. He knew it was a rust bucket! He had been told.
I will offer to let him find a comparable car at auction to swap. If he doesn`t go for that,it`s time to contact the attorney general and the better buisness bureau.

I agree with TG, i also think you should go ahead and report the scum-bag weather he does the swap or not.Letting somone, anyone, drive a POS like that off the lot is reprehencable...

Both good ideas.Thanks. The more I can use as leverage the better at this point. Any more ideas out there in Gunbroker land?

yep, Regardless if you bought the car " as is " or not, the dealer MUST sell you a roadworthy SAFE car. Get a certified mechanic to write you a letter stating the car is unsafe. Show this letter to your Attorney. Sue their pants off for endangering your life. Go after their throats ( dealership license) and see if you can get them suspended until a formal hearing ( to see if they keep their dealers license).

The BBB is a private company and a joke. Don't waste your time. They work for the people you are mad at, and you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Try your local trade commission instead.

Get a estimate from a reputable repair shop, attach a copy to the complaint.
