ABC Airs Debate About GOD
ABC Reschedules Debate About God
Please remember to pray for Kirk and Ray as they debate two atheists in New York for ABC television this Saturday. The debate will be filmed for Nightline in New York City, and will be streamed LIVE on their website on Wednesday, May 9. This notice is to let you know the network recently changed the streaming time from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm EST.
We would be grateful if you would forward this newsblast all over the internet. This is a wonderful opportunity for the gospel. We will send out another blast next week with more details. Thank you.
Actor Kirk Cameron and best-selling author Ray Comfort will square off with two atheists in New York on Saturday, May 5. ABC originally planned to stream the 90-minute debate LIVE on their website, but decided to reschedule the broadcast to capture a larger audience. They will broadcast the entire debate on ABC.com on Wednesday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The debate will be moderated by Martin Bashir, and on May 9 a shortened version of the debate will be aired on Nightline also on Wednesday 9th.
Comfort -- who claims he can prove the existence of God, scientifically, without mentioning faith or the Bible -- stated, "The network originally offered me only four minutes to present my case. After speaking with Kirk and conferring with the atheists, they settled on 13 minutes. I'm ecstatic. I can prove the existence of God in that amount of time.
"We are very grateful to ABC for taking this courageous step," Comfort continued. "As far as we know, nothing like this has ever been done before. ABC's website is already the 7th most visited news site, with 19 million visitors every month. But with more than 177 million people in the U.S. who call themselves Christians, we are sure that it will draw an even larger viewing audience. Is there actually evidence for God? That's the most important question any of us will ever consider."
Cameron added, "We are excited that the network has decided to do this, because we have something very relevant to present. Most people think that belief in God is simply a matter of blind faith, and that His existence can't be proven. We will not only prove that God exists, but as an ex-atheist I'll show that the issue keeping so many people from believing in God -- Darwinian evolution -- is completely unscientific. It's a fairy-tale for grownups."
The debate came about after ABC ran a story in January about hundreds of atheists videotaping themselves blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
"But," Comfort continued, "there is something more sinister here than a few people not believing in God. Why would so many be so bitter against Christianity in particular? Why aren't they making videos that blaspheme Buddha or Mohammed or Ghandi? We made our own video clip and posted it on www.Hollywoodblasphemy.com to expose why.
As of May 2 there is still an opportunity for people to join in the debate, by submitting questions that will be passed on to the panelists. ABC will limit the live audience to 100 people, evenly divided between atheists and believers. For further information, contact mark@livingwaters.com.

It should be an easy defeat as most atheist know nothing of god. However, satan takes care of his own! 0 -
Good luck to anyone who can scientifically "prove" the existence of God in thirteen minutes. Since mankind has been debating the topic for several thousand years without a definitive answer, I have to wonder about the sanity of Ray Comfort in making such a claim. 0 -
What a waste of airtime! Trying to prove something that is faith based is playing into the hands of the anti-god believers. Whats the point, its an arguement that will go on forever.
Religion is such a personal thing. Folks who have had some unusual event in their life that lead them to their belief will never convince others that God exists! Its like seeing a UFO, you say you saw it, but 90% of the population will think you are demented or saw a weather balloon.
Most people at some point in their lives will have a defining moment and come face to face with God or they will seek God! I for one, would not want to be in the army of the unbelievers!0 -
There is really nothing to debate. The proof of God's existence is everywhere around us. The problem is that some people refuse to see it for what it is. 0 -

Neither the atheists nor the... religionists... can prove anything in this debate. There is no evidence that there is a god, just as there is no evidence that there is not one.
Agnosticism is the only logical position in this debate.0 -
those eeeevil athiests! (who aren't worthy of having a name, unlike Kirk and Ray)
quote:there is something more sinister here than a few people not believing in God. Why would so many be so bitter against Christianity in particular?that's sinister allright! so many people not beleiving in The God! hhmm, must be the work of The Devil! can't be because they just don't believe it.
and I was just thinking the other day, whenever a christian looks at someone who doesn't beleive in their god, they have the attitude that that there's something wrong with that person because that person owes his "soul" to The God that he refuses to acknowledge. therefore he's bad and deserves to go to hell. like a debtor that owes a debt but ignores paying up. leave it to the jews to come up with a religion like that.0 -

Buschmaster: Your comments are charged with emotion. I notice that each time the subject comes up. But please believe me, Christians (that is to say real ones) do not have any ill feelings at all towards those who do not know Christ. 8 1/2 years ago I didn't know Him either. Despite what you may think there is no negative feelings towards you. And by the way we all deserve to go to hell. Rom. 3:23 see also Rom. 6:230 -
not really "charged with emotion". just strong words. 0 -
How about all those evil people that don't believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny? Grow up kiddies! 0 -

Strong words or not, you're still ok with me. [;)][:D]0 -
I agree, "What is there to debate?"
There is proof all around that God exists, but if you choose not to believe ... you won't believe. I spent several hours with the Lord today and am fully assured that the Father exists.
"He has proven his love toward us in that while we we yet sinners, Christ died for us."
May God bless y'al real good.0 -
Some Love, sits around idle while people are starving to death, people murdering kids, kids being raped and killed, Yep that love is flowing over. Why cant people admit that this God is impotent and cant do a thing about it instead of making up lame excuses as to why it doesnt. 0 -

so true.0 -
Comfort & Cameron appear pretty arrogant claiming they can prove the existance of God in only 13 minutes. Like someone said, religious leaders and preachers have been trying to do that for thousands of years.
Heck, I hope they do prove the existance of God. Then I can stop debating it in my own mind. relax, get right with God and go to Heaven. Not a bad deal.0 -

Why are people who don't believe there's a big invisible man who lives in the sky given a special title like 'atheist'?
Do you call someone who dosn't believe in the easter bunny an 'unbunnyist'0 -

Religion....the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on man....by man. [}:)]
You are right as you use the word religion.
A living loving relationship with Christ is the key.
Not any man made "religion".0 -
Couple points that are important to keep in mind:
Yes, religion is NOT the answer ... religion is a big part of the problem! What the Bible is teaching is not religion at all. Religion is man's attempt to reach God. The message of the Bible is the other way around ... it is God's attempt to reach man, and his approach is to offer a personal relationship with Jesus ... Immanuel, God with us! And the offer is made to undeserving people like me! Can you beat that!
Yes, there is plenty of evil in the world, but I would not blame God for it! And without the grace of God, things would be a lot worse than they already are! The problem is man not God!

Just don't understand why any Dad with powers would let his son be nailed to a cross and be freely murdered. 0 -
This is one game I suggest nobody play
3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: [:0]0 -
Sorry...forgot the reference
[The New testament Mark 3:28-29]
the 3: stands for chapter 3:0 -

I too have wondered the very same thing. Then I realized it was Jesus and at any time he could've called for any number of angels(2 woulda done fine) and had the place wiped out.He also said He was God.So he evidently had the same power.easy enough to deal with a minor inconvienence like a spike or three with that level of power.Heck God "spoke" the world into existence so one word from Him woulda done it.Of course we'd all be srewed at that point so who actually was responsible for Jesus' death. That's when I decided to stop trying to figure out what God was doing and move on.The amswer in it's shortest form is he did it for me,you ,and us0
