    Some members here nearly went ballistic when someone mentioned killing a Hawk a week or so ago but has any of you witnessed a hawk ripping the flesh from a live rabbit.

    Animals do what animals do. I guess this Zoo should buy purina soft food in a can for these animals.

    I thought that lions were supposed to quickly kill prey by going for the jugular/ crushing their neck.
    I guess they must have been domesticated, cause they sure didnt make a quick kill. Either that or they dont go for the quick kill when the animal doesnt pose a threat, a wildabeast being attacked by only a few lions is quite dangerous to the lions, a donkey facing 10 lions, does not stand a chance of surviving the encounter, or driving off its attackers.

    Anyone see that video of a lone lion going after a lone zebra right near a river bank? the zebra actually appears to try to drown the lion, which gives up and flees, the only way the video coulda been cooler is if there was an alligator waiting for one of them in the river.

    I used to work on an OP VERY near where this video was taken. On a nightly basis we used to hear this odd sound. Sort of a moaning shrieking sound. We eventually realized after a patrol that the sound we would hear was the lions screwing! I never thought I'd see those lions again! As for feeding them live donkeys that does not bother me. It's live prey for one of nature's better predators.

    Edit: no need to rant like that. It's not healthy and does a lot of good guys a disservice. Just suffice it to say, I've seen what a monster in a hero's clothes looks like, and I just hope people recognize how close a thing it is (statistically and provably) between drawing amusement from watching an animal suffer, and crossing the thin line to people.

    Why go to all that trouble day in and day out procuring live animals. Just kill the lions. I don't recall them ever being useful like donkeys are.

    Better yet, just turn the lions aloose.

    All you folks that think that is so cool can prehaps experience it first hand one day.

    Is that what you call it? Blowing off steam? In my day if a guy needed to blow off some steam, you'd go to the gym, or box, maybe even jog some. I guess these days if you want to blow off some steam, you go laugh and hoot at a domesticated animal's suffering and death. Loosers, plain and simple. In America, you'd be thrown in jail for that entertainment. So the moral to the story is be a solder, leave your morals at home and go overseas and do cruel and inhumane things to livestock and know that there will guys back home hooting and hollering for you, 'cuz your just blowing off steam. Just wait untill the media gets ahold of that video.

    I don't think the GI's are the ones feeding the lions, the Iraqi's are. would it be better if it was a mexican "donkey show"?

    Yes, I understand that the GI's are not feeding the lions. But their attatiude and comments while filming speak volumes to other people in the world about Americans.

    And is this the same forum that had such a fit over "canned hunts"?

    Guess I missed the Wild Kindom episode about the wild herds of donkeys of the African plains.

    Didn't know Iraqi zoos were still in operation... but maybe they shouldn't be. Why do they need so many lions? Two would be more than enough, but they apparently have a lot more for some reason.
