who has
decent flintlock kits these days?
been missing the ones i built years ago (and foolishly sold)
managed to re-claim my .67 pistol, but the stock is badly cracked and all but the barrel missing[:(]
so it will be a parts search as well as checking out the new kits to decide which way i build my new one

This one looks good. I have thought about buying it myself.

Dixie Gun Works has a whole array of their flint and percussion gun kits on sale right now. Check out their website (dixiegunworks.com). 0 -
If you want the best kit out there I recommend Jim Chambers kits. http://www.flintlocks.com/ 0 -
looking and dreaming here...and a LOT of sticker shock!!!
can tell how many years it has been by the price tags.
may have to talk wife into a combination Christmass and March birthday present combo
or start getting peice by peice as funds allow0 -
Chambers kits are unbelievable.
I visited his shop, near Asheville NC.
I thought I had set the time machine for 1774 and was in a master gunsmith's shop in Lancaster Pennsylvania.0 -
Allen, have any contact info? All I can find is Fort Chambers BP in Pa..
I'm interested myself if I can find some really special ones.0 -
if i had the couple thou, i would just by one of the ones built by the shop i am learning at.
charlies brother turns out about 2-3 a year with 2-5,000 price tags.
but they are works of art i couldnt even begin to try to match at this time, includeing hand engraved patch box covers, "folk art" stocks...
but seeing him at his bench when i am there gets me the itch again
have to start saveing again for a new toy with "some assembly required"0 -
If you are looking for kits or parts have a look at Track of the wolf www.trackofthewolf.com and The log cabin shop www.logcabinshop.com If you can't find it there it isn't made. Both would be great if you are going to do the piece by piece method. 0
