Got a catfish question.
How long, typically, will a channel cat live in an enclosed(stock) pond[?]
I've got a few in my pond that I know for a fact are 20 years old.
I stocked them as fingerlings in a different pond on a place I had rented about 20 years ago and when I bought the place I'm at now,I caught as many as I could(about 20 that averaged about 6 lbs.) and put them in this pond .That was ten years ago and even though I've added more since then, there are still a handfull(many in the 14-16 lb. range have been caught over the years.) that I recognize as those oldies.
Just wonderin'.

Catfish are known to live 75-100 years. I think channels are one of the types that don't live as long as most. Blues, without doing the research, are one of the longest living. 0
