CVA salute to Elvjeep, from a survivor of the USS Oriskany CVA-34. 1971-73. Damage Control, E-5. Interesting times, interesting duty, but you know -- we got the job done. Still proud.

The Kitty Hawk is on her last mission. Spent the 4th in Australia. She's going to be decommissioned.

    I think it'll be a big loss.

I know this doesn't mean much...

My cousin has been on the Kitty Hawk for a good 15yrs now.

    Loves it.

Just thought I'd throw that in.

Non stop, I think, well not counting his vacations and such. Let's put it this way, it's the only boat he's been stationed on. He's been on it since I can remember.

carriers are sea duty. he must have had shore duty in between. its called a 'sea shore rotation' to keep sailors from being burnt out and to rest them to keep them from becoming complacent. 15 years straight of carrier duty will do that. its way too dangerous. you need to ask him about this. i did 8 on enterprise total, but had 4 shore in bewteen over 12 years.
