Red dot scope

Greetings, all, I recently purchased a Bushmaster Carbon 15 with the "red dot" scope. Trouble is, I can't see any red dot. OK, I'm new to scopes entirely but shouldn't I see a red dot so that I can begin to sight it? Obviously I'm not doing something right. I know you experienced folks will understand when a newbie comes in with a question like this. No question is a dumb question, as they say. Help! Thanks!

    What is a good red dot site for AR15? Is tasco a good brand even if they do make cheap scopes?

    I have never used one before and was thinking about putting one on my .22 pistol. Any reccomendations, suggestions, or alternatives?

    I have an ultra dot, it was on my 50cal muzzle loader now it is on my ruger 22/45.

    good scope IMO.

    Most of the bullseye shooters here use either ultra dot or propoint

    Only problem with red-dots is their magnification properties, little to none. That being said, I have an Aimpoint CompM4 on my AR-15 M4. The Aimpoint is a little pricey, but worth it for my purposes. Bushnell and Simmons make some really nice red-dots at a reasonable price. Stay away from the knock-offs, imitations and no-name junk. You will be disappointed, I was.

    I have one on my AR-15, and a cheap Beamshot on a Ruger MK III 22/45. It makes for quick close site aqusition on the AR-15. And the cheaper beamshot I have on a Ruger MK III 22/45 I got for like $65.00 so far works like a dream on my pistol. I have killed a few cotton tails with it, but I must say dont expect any long range shots with them. Good Luck!!

    I have an Ultra Dot Pan A/V on my High Standard Victor. It's dead-nuts accurate at 50 feet.
