    I do but am rethinking this membership as well as my NRA membership. All I keep hearing is that this is good for gun owners and will not hurt us. I have a strong doubt that this is true, but only time will tell. I hope to hell I am wrong, but nothing that the Brady Bunch and Schumer/Kennedy/et al support has been good for us in the long run.

The NICS Improvement Act does not expand the definition of who is a prohibited person. Anyone who can legally purchase a firearm today can still do so under this legislation.

    The legislation is supported by the firearms industry for several reasons, including that it will help to ensure that those individuals whom are deemed untrustworthy of possessing a firearm are unable to purchase firearms. The bill also will allow for individuals who are now unfairly prohibited from owning guns to appeal their prohibition and have their Second Amendment rights restored. This is currently not possible, and tens of thousands of Americans of sound mind, including many veterans, are permanently barred without due process from possessing firearms.

    NSSF has long supported an instant background check on firearms purchases- support which predates that of any other group, including the nation's most radical gun ban organizations. NSSF has called upon Congress to continue to improve NICS so that checks are truly both instant and accurate.

    They also pushed for the zoning requirement for FFL's. I receive rags from them, but I have never sent them a dime, I was just wondering who is paying their bills.[:0][}:)][:D]

    I joined them a while back in the hopes that they would get the push going in Texas to get shooting teams back into high schools. That never happened.

    I do believe the NRA has its uses. It was born to help the shooting sports just like NSSF...and it needs to keep its focus there if it isnt going to draw a hard stance against these antis.

    Sustaining Member for almost 30 years. They are the Firearms Industry's lobbying arm, and in conjunction with the NRA, they promote and fund shooting sports in every state through the State associations. Been a member of nMSSA for almost 28 years.
    Not sure if Texas has a State shooting sports foundation, but if youth programs are what you wish to see; spend your money at a Friends of NRA event and the state shooting in YMCA, Girl Scouts, YHEC, ROTC, and airgun events will happen. As far as shooting teams going back to high schools where they were banned by the Gun Free Schools Act and other Klinton atrocities; the politically correct would rather eat their own foot than give back ANY of the rights they have stolen-what did you expect?!
    Look at NMSSA.org and see what a fine program we have, giving almost $30,000 to promote shooting sports all over nM.
