Deputies: Woman Finds Intruder, Kills Him

LAURENS, S.C. - Deputies said when a Laurens County woman arrived home from work, she found an intruder in her home and shot him dead. They said the incident occurred early Tuesday evening on Pineland Shore Circle in Laurens County.
The woman entered her house and heard a noise, deputies said. As she walked in, she opened fire, killing the man, investigators said.
Deputies are still investigating the death.

Happens more than you hear about in the news down here. Most times they just bury the bad guy out back on their neighbor's land and go to work like nothing happened. Call the cops and you loose atleast a day's pay and have to answer a bunch of stupid questions. They should just have a body wagon you can call to pick up wounded or dead intruders and haul them off to the incinerator. 0 -

A Cross Hill woman returned home to find an intruder inside, and then shot and killed him. The incident happened about 8pm this evening on Pineland Shores Road. Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain tells News Channel 7 that the woman heard someone in the home, grabbed a weapon, and saw him hiding in one of the rooms. She then shot him. It was not until after she shot him that she realized she knew him. Chastain says robbery appears to be the motive.
Investigators will now present the case to Solicitor Jerry Peace to determine if the woman will be charged. No names were released this evening.

LAURENS, S.C. -- Deputies said when a Laurens County woman came home from work, she found an intruder in her home -- and shot him dead.
Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain said that the intruder has been identified as Richard Bennette Vanderford, 23, who was a neighbor of the woman.

Chastain said that Vanderford had broken into the home in the 300 block of Pineland Shores Circle in Cross Hill.
Investigators said that after the woman had been in the house for about a half an hour, she heard a noise in the bedroom. She said that she looked into the bedroom and saw a person's hand beneath the bed.
The woman said she grabbed her pistol and as Vanderford started to come out from beneath the bed, she fired three rounds.
The woman called 911. Vanderford was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this point, our office is continuing to investigate this incident," Chastain said.
